That is exactly right.

CNN went with an unverified story from Buzzfeed and they deserved what they got.

Yes...CNN wants to claim they didn't print/post the report, but at minimum they publicized it and pushed into the MSM spotlight. They might as well have done, as it would have remained a non-story had they responsibly checked the veracity to determine if it was worthy of public attention.

They can split hairs and claim innocence all they want, but CNN flamed the fires.

Guilty in our minds. I hope it was worth it for an organization that is already the least trusted.
