And if you do, how will that color your attempts to build a relationship with a leader who has been accused of committing an act of espionage against the United States?
TRUMP: OK, first of all, these readings as you know are confidential, classified. So, Im not allowed to talk about what went on in a meeting.
And but we had many witnesses in that meeting, many of them with us. And I will say, again, I think its a disgrace that information would be let out.
I saw the information; I read the information outside of that meeting. Its all fake news. Its phony stuff. It didnt happen. And it was gotten by opponents of ours, as you know, because you reported it and so did many of the other people. It was a group of opponents that got together sick people and they put that crap together.
So, I will tell you that not within the meeting, but outside of the meeting, somebody released it. It should have never been number one, shouldnt have even entered paper. But it should have never have been released. But I read what was released and I think its a disgrace. I think its an absolute disgrace.
As far as hacking, I think it was Russia. But I think we also get hacked by other countries and other people. And I I can say that you know when when we lost 22 million names and everything else that was hacked recently, they didnt make a big deal out of that. That was something that was extraordinary. That was probably China.
We had we had much hacking going on. And one of the things were gonna do, we have some of the greatest computer minds anywhere in the world that weve assembled. You saw just a sample of it two weeks ago up here where we had the six top people in the world they were never in the same room together as a group. And were gonna put those minds together and were going to form a defense. Link
Election meddling & DNC hack & wikileaks leak were all separate things, correct?
I share your thoughts.
I heard him, but many times when making statements it can sound like you’re saying one thing, when that isn’t exactly what you meant at all.
CNN heard him say Russia tampered with the election.
I hear him say Russia was involved with revealing information.
I would have to listen again to get it just right. This was a first blush take on it.
I don’t think he should charge Russia with it, but he has had briefings I haven’t.
That’s about all I can say.
This guy is no dummy. He’ll get it right.
Thanks! I’ll try that when I’m at home.
“Election meddling & DNC hack & wikileaks leak were all separate things, correct?”
As far as I understand yes.
It seems to me after reading the transcript, that Trump at least tacitly agrees with the claim that Russia was behind the DNC email “hack”. He never forcefully disagrees with the assertion. And it seems to me that Trump of all people would call that out if he in fact disagrees with it. In another part of the presser he is asked,
“QUESTION: Mr. President-elect, you said, just now, that you believe Russia indeed was responsible for the hacking of the DNC and Jon Podestas e-mails, et cetera.”
And then responds,
“TRUMP: All right, but you know what, it could have been others also.”
Again, I would think if he disagrees with the claim Russia was behind the DNC email leaks, then he would have said so right here unequivocally.
What does everyone else think? Why wouldn’t he make it clear he disagrees here and at the beginning if he indeed does?
Rich
I refuse to click on the “CNN” link. Left-wing propaganda site.
And with that CNN now has the entire talking point for Trump’s administration.
Who cares ? FR posts more about CNN then they have viewers.
I can only read between the lines, and that is never going to be 20/20. Some will think it’s 20/200 or something.
At any rate, he has now been briefed on this, we’ve been told.
This guy is no dummy. He’ll know S from Shinola within moments.
There are times when you know you’re being gamed, and it’s not prudent to push it. There’s nothing to be gained from it, and it could cause you enemies.
I think Trump was briefed. I think he thought it was a bunch of malarkey. I think he references it, but also deflects it in ways by saying it could just as easily have been any of a number of nations.
He may have been told this was Russia, but that other nations hack us also. He tipped his cap to the Russia angle, and touched on the other nations as well.
This would allow those who brief him to think he’s listening, but not getting it right. So he may be playing a bit dumb here for sake of harmony, but fully aware of what is going on in his own mind.
You know, I as well as others nit pick these issues to death. I’m not saying we’re wrong to do that, but I also think we need to allow some wiggle room to Trump as well.
He has dynamics he has to face and work within as best he can. Sometimes we have to understand that.
Now I’m sure some folk will read this and think I’m full of it. Hey, I may be. I’m not an apologist for Trump, but I want to see things play out before I commit myself to criticism.
IMO < Trump is simply too smart to fall for the Russian boogie man line. There are hills we don’t need to die on.
Trump is going to shake things up in our intelligence agencies. That is the time to take care of this. Trump doesn’t have to do it in the realm of public opinion and make enemies.
As long as the job gets down, it’s good for us.
We’re used to dealing with people who are not multi-dimensional. Obama was less than one dimensional. The man was an absolute fool. He glommed on to stupid ideas, and thought we would join him. Wrong.
Trump is one smart cookie. He’s going to be a few moves ahead of us at times. It will appear he has missed something, and then later on he’ll do something that will alert us that we were worrying needlessly, and he was way ahead of us all along.
Is this one instance of that?
I am told his first few days are going to rock this nation.
Only time will tell how brilliant or not this guys is, how brilliant or not we were supporting him.
I predict there will be times we’ll never know how brilliant he is, because he will accomplish things for us we’ll never know about.
I won’t be critical of this guy until after he has done some things that are clearly wrong. I don’t think we’re there yet.
I’ve got my popcorn. I’ve got my hot dogs. I’ve’ got sodas and beer.
Don’t bug me. Ha!
Those of you who watched him today, tell me he didn’t absolutely defuse almost any claim that could be make that he is taking advantage of his position to enrich himself.
He’s miles ahead of the Left and the media on this.
I suspect that will a model we see over and over again.
This is proof Trump doesn’t get on the Internet or read FR. He doesn’t know this hacking of the DNC is all a fabrication and now he has walked into a trap. The Left is always setting traps.
I didn’t see the official POTUS in waiting tweet, so I disbelieve whatever they report him as saying..
Wait for THIS headline from CNN:
DONALD TRUMP: “I’M RUSSIAN!”
The question will be omitted, and it will be “Mr. President, are you going to leisurely overturn Obama’s Executive Orders, or are you going to be rushing?”
[Them and MSNBC can play cards or something while real journalists are reporting on the news. ]
Better yet, they can go play with each other....
We don't know it made the difference. And even if it did, it was TRUE information.
Still it gives plenty of ammunition to the left against Assange and against Trump.
So he must have got some credible intelligence information that changed his mind. This is serious for Assange, and a bit of egg on Sean Hannity’s face for the interviews. A bit on mine too because I have telling other people it was fake news.
It was Russia and about ten other countries and any number of teenagers with some time on their hands.
Thanks I agree that is my approach too at this time to watch and see what he does.
Thanks fourtySeven, Glad to hear it.
