What’s my point?

The point is, in the reality of mexico is that

“Most Latin America has long had a policy that everyone is equally Spanish and Indian. Anyone who agitates on the basis of skin color gets kicked to the curb.”

Is in reality the exact opposite of truth.

Do you see dark skinned people agitating on skin color in Mexico? Are there white’s only clubs? The point of the policy is to create an image of single people without worry about that fact that different people perform in different manner.

In Thailand the more Chinese someone is generally the smarter and more successful they are. But the more Chinese Thai’s are not allowed to call themselves any more Chinese than the rest of the population. This prevents the type of racial strive we and others have to deal with all the time. Latin America has the same sort of policy of enforced color blindness.

Mexicans have a bit of a class system based on the color of your skin and look.
Most all on TV in Mexico are lighter skinned and prefer more Spanish looking people over any Indians.

I am married to someone born in Mexico with Indian features who gets mistaken Philipino all the time.
