“If the car was unlocked and the key was in the ignition the guy was inviting a theft. Doesn’t matter that the car was in his own driveway.”

Well, I don't know about this guy's car, but I can start mine with the key fob from inside the house, so there's no key in the ignition and all the doors are locked. This is just another reason why we need to have an overhaul of how our cops operate. All too often, they are like dogs licking their balls. They do it because they can, and not for any discernable reason.

You make a good point but if that’s the scenario, typically that isn’t a violation of the law against unattended vehicle.
