The garment industry in New York and California have been decimated by the cheap crap out of Asia. Disposable, cheap clothes seems to be the name of the game lately. It’s really too bad, professional sewing is a great way for lots of people to earn a living.
How many garment-industry workers could learn to do “software and other high-tech”, even with YEARS of instruction?
