Booker to testify against Trump’s Attorney General nominee on Wednesday –

Booker to testify against Trump’s Attorney General nominee on Wednesday – as Rudy says Sessions is 'not a racist' – and GOP delays hearing on education pick Betsy DeVos

Democrats have expressed concern about Sessions's civil rights record

In 1986, Sessions was denied a federal judgeship by President Ronald Reagan

Testimony from multiple former colleagues of Sessions suggested he was racist

Trump supporter former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who used to work with Sessions, called the charges against him 'ridiculous' and said his accusers were 'intellectually dishonest'

When Sen Sessions was a 39-year-old US attorney in Alabama he was denied a federal judgeship by President Ronald Reagan

The Senate fight over President-elect Donald Trump's pick of Sen Jeff Sessions to become attorney general is turning into a showdown over race, wth New Jersey senator Corey Booker set to testify against the Alabama Republican and Trump supporter Rudy Giuliani saying Sessions is 'not a racist' and blasting 'ridiculous' attacks.

Sessions is the first Trump cabinet nominee to get a confirmation hearing when the Senate Judiciary Committee meets Tuesday morning, and his nomination is already drawing fireworks.

Booker is set to testify Wednesday against the Alabama Republican during the latter's attorney general confirmation hearing, while the Trump transition is lining up allies to defend him. Civil Rights legend Rep. John Lewis of Georgia also will testify.

It's rare for a sitting senator to testify against a colleague picked for a Cabinet post, and a break from the chamber's sometimes clubby atmosphere. 'Come on, this is a guy who prosecuted the Klan, one life sentence, one I I think, death sentence,' Giuliani said.

Giuliani, appearing on 'Fox and Friends,' defended Sessions Tuesday morning.

'This is a guy who brought desegregation cases for rural districts. This is ridiculous,' Giuliani said.

'He’s been in the Senate all these years and every one of those senators knows he’s not a racist. They’re playing a game. The ones who come up there and do that are being really intellectually dishonest,' Giuliani continued.

Obama has destroyed the Dems.

All they have are false cries of racism.

It will be good to see this climber get his lying @$$ handed to him in rebuttal to his defamation of Sessions.

Senator Scott of S. Carolina, also a black man, counters Booker by himself going public today with his support for the nomination of Jeff Sessions.

“All they have are false cries of racism.”

Yes, and they’ve used them so often, fewer and fewer people choose to listen to them. I hope they keep it up!

I’m trying to figure out what Corey Booker’s ‘testimony’ is going to be. My guess is it will just be an incoherent rant to smear Sessions, short on facts, long on innuendo and general accusations.

My guess is that this is a way for Booker to get his face out there because he wants to be the next Obama.

Time to quit playing nice with pathological liars. Drag their nasty selves into civil courts and sue them for every penny they’ve ever made and are likely to ever make.

The only way to get honesty and integrity back into politics is to burn the liars and thieves at the stake until there are no more liars and thieves in politics and those liars and thieves not in politics learn to stay the hell away from being played as punks for politics.

The lessons must be painful and comprehensive or they mean nothing.

“Rep. John Lewis of Georgia will also testify...”
___________________________________________________

Absurd. There was a thread here on FreeRepublic a few weeks ago that had an image of Jeff Sessions marching WITH John Lewis in FAVOR of civil rights.

Democraps just gotta lie....

Typical Jersey Jerk politician on the make. Just came out to support Jon Corzine II as governor - Phil Murphy - another Wall Street Shyster.

At this point, the GOP has to wake up, totally IGNORE the Democrats, support Trump’s agenda, ramrod through all appointments with the Nuclear Option and realize there is no cooperation with these people who are totally dedicated to obstruction and delegitimization.

They need to grow a set.

Since they are doing unprecedented things, how about another Senator testifying on Cory Booker’s rather checkered past including owning a slum turned into a crack house and questionable compensation from a private employer while he was a public employee.

Exactly right. From now on, Booker will take advantage of every possible opportunity to get his name out there in preparation of a 2020 run.

Nope. It’s worse.

They are morally dishonest

Excellent! I’m glad Senator Scott chose to speak out. The Democrats are going to find that they are less able to paint the entire Republican Party as racists as greater numbers of minorities decide they’ve had enough of being used as political pawns.

Booker is another Odungo wanna be....he even has
imaginary “ friends” like Odungo. He used to chase fire trucks in Newark and suddenly appear before the news crews and reporters “ on screen” showing his constituents “he cares”....another FAKE.
