Piers Morgan to Meryl Streep: Anti-Trump speech was ‘worst performance of your career’
Washington Times ^

Posted on 01/09/2017 2:21:44 PM PST by davikkm

Columnist and admitted Meryl Streep fan Piers Morgan said the actress’ anti-Donald Trump rant delivered during Sunday night’s Golden Globes was “easily” the worst performance of her career. In his column Monday for The Daily Mail, Mr. Morgan lamented the “stench of hypocrisy” throughout Ms. Streep’s speech that condemned the president-elect and accused him of bullying others. “She began by saying that Hollywood, foreigners and the press are ‘the most vilified segments of American society right now,’” Mr. Morgan wrote. “At which point the cameras panned out to hundreds of the richest, most privileged people in American society sitting in the audience in their $10,000 tuxedos and $20,000 dresses, loudly cheering this acknowledgement of their dreadful victimhood. “She then said that if all the ‘outsiders and foreigners’ were kicked out of Hollywood, ‘you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts,’” he continued. “Wow. I haven’t heard such elitist snobbery since Hillary Clinton branded Trump supporters ‘a basket of deplorables.’”

You left out Olivia de Havilland who spoke out in the 1940s against Communist influence in Hollywood along side Reagan and Wayne.

Streep thinks these Hollywood assclowns are the most vilified people in America? If you open your mouth and make a fool of yourself, and people call you a fool, that’s not being vilified. Saying all white people are inherently racist because of “white privilege” or that anyone who opposes changing the definition of marriage is a hateful bigot is vilifying people.

PIERS MORGAN INSIGHTFULLY OBSERVED: “Streep began her laceration of Pres Trump by saying that Hollywood, foreigners, and the press are ‘the most vilified segments of American society' today. At which point, the cameras panned out to hundreds of the richest, most privileged people in American society in their $10,000 tuxedos and $20,000 designer dresses, loudly cheering this acknowledgement of their 'dreadful victimhood.'

Just goes to show..... liberals are never more jubilant than when they're in the "consecrated state of victimhood." It's the only time liberals feel really good about themselves....when they think they're victims.

Just imagine the celebration after Streep informed plain old Americans like us that THEY....the Hollyood luminaries.... are the real victims.

I can almost hear the champagne corks pop at their victimhood celebrations.....held in 20 million dollar beach cottages in Malibu.

I have never liked her...she insulted everyone in that industry that tried to help her get the ‘Life Time’ award, instead of saying ‘Thank you’ to all those people, she insulted them, and American People who want our Country back...

How disgraceful for a POS like this to achieve something that some would really treasure...

I bet this is the most publicity she has had in a while. Her last 2 movies were not so hot.

It’s ironic that the two presidents who were members of actors’ unions — pretty much the only two who were members of any union — were Republicans: Reagan and Trump.

When I was a boy, my parents and I belonged to a film society (Vitaphone) that could legally show archive prints of old movies; it was a revival theater built in a WWII Quonset hut. It had a Wurlitzer (for the Silents), and the owners were from Old Hollywood (he: a gaffer; she: Ziegfeld Follies).

It was very fun: They had like-new reels of classics, old newsreels, a soda fountain, themed double features with cartoon, and live quizzes with prizes.

Olivia de Havilland, Joan Fontaine, and Charlton Heston all belonged to it, and occasionally attended screenings.

‘worst performance of your career’ due to a lousy script writer.

Actually the most vilified people in the USA are Christians who are working with charities or are small business people. Exhibit 1: The little Sisters of the Poor.

Those other groups are the ones that conservatives have zeroed in on. Streep is wrong to feel sorry for anyone who is ‘progressive’ as they have all sorts of defenders: MSM, University and all other teachers, unions, federal bureaucracies [IRS, DoJ, FBI, CIA, etc].

I chalk it up to ‘stopped-clock syndrome’. We’ll see if a cure is in place over a stretch of ground with Piers . .

Interesting home-movie type documentary making the rounds on HBO lately - Called “Bright Lights”, it details the close relationship between Debbie Reynolds and daughter Carrie Fisher of only a few years ago - it shows starkly the total self-absorption of these two and by extension the Hollywood elites they represented (the “entertainment race” as Reynolds’ son calls it at one point) - and also the fawning eunuchs and doormats with whom they surround themselves - so artificial and insulated seems life in entertainment land that Reynolds’ son describes his childhood in the house hold with his mother and father Eddie Fisher, as long as it lasted, as being “as though we were always preparing for a photo shoot” - between their own conviction in their own infallibility and the obsequiousness of their lackeys, it’s not surprising that the likes of Streep thinks everyone should care about her political opinions......

Strep is the female Follywood version of Colin Kaepernick!

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was given The Len Eshmont Award, which honors a player for his courage and inspiration. Eshmont, the award’s namesake, was a player on the franchise’s original 1946 team who died before his 40th birthday, and the award has been given annually since his death in 1957.
