For almost eight years, the members of the Congressional Black Caucus existed in the shadow of the first black president. They praised President Barack Obamas achievements while at the same time pushing him to do more for their constituents who overwhelmingly supported his history-making campaign and administration.
But with Obama set to leave the White House on Jan. 20, black lawmakers in the House and Senate are recalculating and reassessing their place in Washington. And realizing theyre regaining the limelight as the most visible and powerful African-American politicians in the nations capital.
President-elect Donald Trump will face a larger and more aggressive caucus, which will advocate for positions with a bit more force, said Rep. Danny Davis, D-Ill., a longtime member. Without President Obama being in office, there will be more forceful articulation vis-à-vis administration policy.
To the outgoing caucus chairman, Rep. G.K. Butterfield, D-N.C., The consequences are too enormous for us to be indecisive.

Democrat politicians are worthless
The Black ones are at the bottom of the barrel
The burning question in my mind is how a faction (i.e., Libs/DIMS) that contributes absolutely nothing to the betterment of the tribe is allowed to remain as members.
Let alone exert the influence they do.
“Ryan should de authorize the Black Caucus again”
Ryan did that? Maybe there’s hope for him after all. I don’t think he’d have stones to do it tough. But just imagine the reaction to a Congressional White Caucus.
The congressional klan is seething with hatred for the successful.
“Black” caucus??? Those racist pigs!!!
Donald Trump made a special, and I felt effective, outreach to African-Americans. Yet Hillary still overwhelmingly received their vote, though a number of them stayed at home. Now black politicians show antagonism towards him. Stupid of them. It only supports that the Dems can take them for granted and the GOP less likely to show interest in them.
Congress and Pres Trump need to close down these "identity" caucuses. ....also known as Pay-Me-I'M-A-Victim.
2016 was the final nail in the coffin of "identity" politics.
These identity caucus members get an extra annual ten thousand tax dollars EACH to do with as they please.
That's outright thievery. Close them down ASAP.
Here is what they should do:
1. Elect Keith Ellison DNC Chairman
2. Demand reparations & other free stuff
3. Continue to support BLM and disparage police
4. Call Trump and Republicans racist at every opportunity
5. Be silent about violence in Chicago and other urban areas
That’s a short list, but a real formula for success!! [/s]
After all, black lives matter more than white folks....
Sit down and watch as Trump cleans up Chicago and saves hundreds of lives.
It’s really a no-win situation.
Congressional Black Caucus - keeping racism alive and well because CBC lives matter....
The change will be that, with the exit of the Obama Administration, the MSM NEEDS a ‘Black’ perspective / counterpoint to that RACIST Donald Trump Administration and policies. Thus, by the political vacuum created by the deplorable voters, these CBC members will, once again, get their mugs in the news. Oh joy, there is Clyburn or Waters or Hastings or Norton, however Mia Love, the sole GOP member (last Congress), is unlikely to be interviewed.
Good one Liz...
Sounds like a threat? Remind me again how race doesn't exist and why whites put up with the existence of such groups?
This is actually really ironic, and most people won't pick it up. The congressional black caucus did not have a good relationship with Obama. He barely met with them at all. Yet they never criticized him because he was black. When they say they will be more forceful without Obama there, it isn't that they will stop getting what they want, because they rarely did under Obama. Its just that without Obama in the White House, they can go back to criticizing the president because the president is white.
If they are angry now imagine what they will be like when Trump gets stuff done that Obama said couldn’t be done.
Congressional Black Caucus to be more aggressive under Trump
Aggressive?
Is that a trigger word?
This is micro aggression!
I feel triggered!
Is there a safe space around!
Could be a bit of racism
Their day is done! They have overused the racecard—they have called just too many people racists—to a point when It means nothing. The day of the Liberal has passed. We are in the Age of Trump.
