In fact, I am compelled to start carrying a gun and ammo in my check-in baggage from now on. I wouldn’t want to be caught short defending myself like all this people in concealed carry Florida.

When we were still in FL, we knew that carrying, even with a permit, did NOT allow you to carry inside airport buildings. Leave it in the car.

In this scenario (as I understand it) you could NOT have retrieved your gun in the baggage claim area and legally loaded it.

You may have had a gun when the Muslim terrorist sympathesizing Puerto Rican started shooting but it wouldn't have done you any good.
