Green ones were worn by descendants of Mohamhead in Arabia. The scarf thing is shared by Muslims and some Christians and Jews in the ME. It’s more akin to cowboy hats and bandanas in the American West.

I’m getting the impression of a jihadi who isn’t cool with the suicide part. It’s possible he has built up an elaborate insanity defense. No death sentence, better prison conditions, etc.
