I don't trust the KS Star as far as I could throw them but Trump shunning Kobach would be a huge indicator of his intended immigration approach and not in a good way.

What I read was that McCain and Graham told Trump they would oppose him—and that is why Trump settled on someone else.

Trump would have established policy anyway.

>>Now some aides are lobbying Trump to steer clear of Kobach and to take a more moderate stance on immigration, according to a senior transition official with knowledge of the situation who was not authorized to speak publicly.<<

All this “transition team in turmoil” crap is projection/wishful thinking by the fake news agencies.

Note it is ALWAYS “unnamed sources.”

I agree it would. The way I read this (and this is hopeful and charitable speculation) is that Trump has whatever hiring matrix he has and Kobach just didn’t fit the bill for a top slot. In Trump’s calculation, Kobach is more suited for a “Deputy” role in whatever agency.

Kind of the same position Sheriff Clarke is in, I suspect.

McCain and Graham threatened to go all-in to oppose his nomination. That doesn’t mean, however, that he won’t end up being Czar of the Yuge and Beautiful Wall

I’m not too worried: “President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to be secretary of the Department of Homeland Security [...] Retired Marine Gen. John Kelly [...] was immediately criticized by immigrant rights groups while praised by those advocating for stronger borders.” - http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nation-world/national/article119427068.html

The 11 million figure is 15 years old and was likely a lie then too.

30 million minimum.

Every illegal alien needs to go.

Any accommodation for any illegal alien will be used as an excuse to widen the pool eligible for amnesty.

I love the idea of naming him “immigration czar”—after he’s got his key cabinet positions approved.

The title doesn’t even really fit the tone or message of the article.

If Trump goes wobbly on deporting the illegal aliens, he will be a one term President.

It was his stance for the rule of law that got him elected.

The American people want the laws upheld.

Changing the laws to benefit those breaking them is always bad policy.

We tried that in 1986 and it resulted in 10 times the number of illegal aliens.

We either have the rule of law or we don’t.

We either have the rule of law or we don’t have a country.

I’ve heard Trump say he has not talked to Graham, at all, since he dropped out early last year, so I take this stuff with a grain of salt.
