I am going to have to see some real proof on that.

It would seem that the pregos would be air lifted to the nearest base for delivery before they would dock a complete carrier group.

So pony up some proof and I will concede

Russians are probably bringing back hardware which served its purpose, and bringing in new one needed for the next phase. The next phase may not need costly weapons.

Or this is just part of maintenance cycle. Whatever the real reason is, it is true that there are men and hardware heading back to Russia, and this can be used as PR.

it is true that there are men and hardware heading back to Russia, and this can be used as PR.

It is still more cargo going to Syria than in the opposite direction.

The ships are not well maintained : https://turkishnavy.net/

Today the Russian navy possesses around 270 warships including surface combatants, amphibious ships, submarines and auxiliaries. Of the 270 ships, just 125 or so are in a working state. And of those 125, only around 45 are oceangoing surface warships or submarines that are in good shape and deployable. https://warisboring.com/the-russian-navy-is-on-the-verge-of-collapse-b0ce344ebf96

Russia plans to improve and expand its naval and air bases in Syria, Russian media reported Sunday, citing an unnamed source, as Moscow cements its presence in the Middle Eastern country, its only overseas military deployment.

The source told Interfax news agency that Russia will start repairing a second runway at Hmeimin air base near Latakia, while the Tartus naval base will be upgraded in order to handle bigger ships such as cruisers.
