More on the salute:

Yeah, I posted that photo in #131, along with photos of a couple of ISIS animals making the sign with their right hands while holding up severed heads with their left hands. The mods deleted the post sometime later.

#131 was in response to Thibodeaux's #118, showing John the Baptist pointing his finger upward. I felt further evidence of the reality of the salute needed to be presented. Juxtaposing Zero was just for fun.

Anyway, it's obvious from the looks on the faces of Obama's onlookers that a point was successfully communicated.

The raised pointing finger was I believe not uncommon in church art. Even Leonardo incorporated it.

"Apostle Thomas, James the Greater, and Philip are the next group of three. Thomas is clearly upset; the raised index finger foreshadows his incredulity of the Resurrection. James the Greater looks stunned, with his arms in the air. Meanwhile, Philip appears to be requesting some explanation."
