This does seem unusual. Bail hearings are supposed to be based on the flight risk of the accused criminal, combined with the nature of the charges.
I heard they have done this before - not sure but maybe another Facebook video? There is nothing saying they won’t do it again so good for the judge.
If any one of those punks has ties to a gang, I would consider that to be a flight risk for all of them. They can move pretty easily from city-to-city using their networks, crack-houses, etc.
A bunch of vile thugs had started a gofundme thing to raise bail money for these miserable criminals. I believe the judge and others in Chicago wanted to tamp down the rhetoric coming from BLM idiots, because they know that the average citizen is fed up with this crap. They knew they had to stop all the tweeting, Facebook posting, etc. that was going on in support of the torturers or they might face a real race war.
