State Department won't help Trump plan Israel policies
Washington Examiner ^ | 1/4/17 | Joel Gehrke

Posted on 01/06/2017 7:41:18 AM PST by detective

President-elect Trump won't get any help from the State Department in implementing Israeli-relation policies opposed by President Obama before his inauguration. "The short answer is no," State Department spokesman John Kirby told reporters. "You have one president at a time."

Obama's team invoked that axiom to justify high-profile foreign policy actions in recent weeks, notably his decisions to sanction Russia over the election year cyberattacks and to allow the United Nations Security Council to condemn Israeli settlement construction.

Kirby's statement extended that principle to barring any aid in helping the Trump team prepare to move the United States embassy to Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem or recognize Jerusalem as the nation's capital.

In essence, they are refusing to work; therefore, they need to clean-out their desks, and look through the want ads.

Fake news. After Trump is in office they will do what he says.

This is a manufactured non-story, imo.

You don’t change policies, or work to help a President-Elect prepare for changing the policies in direct defiance of the sitting President. If you did, THAT would be newsworthy.

Allow a couple of weeks to go by and it’s all moot. THEN, if the State Dept actively worked to defy the new President it would be newsworthy, and heads would/should roll.

“This is a no-win issue for Trump”. I have heard that so many times and he still ends up winning.

I agree with this direction (no offense). You have to go with the current chain of command.

Trying to please new and old just ends up with FUBAR.

Hardly “sabotage.”

Agreed, obey the constitution! Trump pre-presidential run is completely unconstitutional and sets a terrible precedent. Nothing he says or does should be binding.. but as long as he is offering CEO cash, everyone is ok, right?

"This is a no-win issue for Trump." I have heard that so many times and he still ends up winning.

You will notice that he won the 2016 presidential election by running a campaign in which he never even mentioned this issue. I challenge anyone to find me a Trump TV ad, internet streaming ad, or campaign rally speech where he even mentions anything related to Israel, Palestine, etc.

I think I'm on pretty safe ground here when I suggest that no more than 5% of Trump's supporters -- and probably close to 0% in the Rust Belt swing states that delivered him the election -- even give a sh!t about any of this.

Well, it would be unusual (and, IMO, improper) for an executive branch department to aid in upending the incumbent’s position. This is best left to the State transition group until 1/20, then walk in the door at 12:01pm and do what President Trump wants by, among other things, throwing their sorry arses out.

No. Sounds right.
Trump is not the President, Obama is.
For 14 more days.
Then State works for Trump.
Too bad he can’t clean it out. Maybe that thing about changing their wages to $1 could help?

It may prove to be very very difficult to FIRE these people, but it is REAL EASY to TRANSFER THEM TO Puerto Rico to their New Offices.

Off the record. Every employee with a muslim name, gets a “new job”.

They are all Obama plants to stonewall the People’s agenda.

See the film Snowden to get a first hand look at the real work of the “intelligence communities”. I’m still reeling. God bless Snowden and Assange.
