The rising hysteria about Russia is best understood as fulfilling two needs for Official Washington: the Military Industrial Complexs transitioning from the war on terror to a more lucrative new cold war and blunting the threat that a President Trump poses to the neoconservative/liberal-interventionist foreign-policy establishment.........
We need to understand that those who want this war will be absolutely relentless. The sales pitch will not end until they get exactly what they want.....

Military industrial complex?? Wtf is this antiwar.com?
The military is the biggest contributor to the modern technological progress. From the internet to space to communications.

I wish Eisenhower had never said that. It’s such bullshit. How can the left argue that a war cost us trillions while at the same time arguing that we go to war for financial gain? Ridiculous.

It was Dwight Eisenhower who coined the phrase “military industrial complex” in a speech at the end of his presidency, not exactly a left-wing hippie type pinko.
John McCain spent his last years in uniform as a liaison officer with Congress, selling the wares of the ‘defense industry” on behalf of the US Navy.
Beyond those items let me add this historical perspective.
The Great Depression of the 1930’s ended as the USA entered the 1940’s and World War II began.
We are going through the worst economic conditions since the 1930’s with denial and masking going on from business and government alike.
What could put an end to those economic conditions?
If our leaders are looking back at history, the answer is clear to them.

No genuine respect for the Constitution or the people in uniform.
Sounds fascist to me.

There are people who
1) Need a huge distraction to cover for their crimes
2) Profit from gov’t spending on war
And the Democrats are beating the drum for war with Russia. A war that could expand and kill 500+ million people if it went nuclear.
These people are beyond insane.

Seems pretty obvious to me and I don't think it has anything to do with either a leftwing or a rightwing political philosopy. Unnecessary wars cost us, the US taxpayers, trillions. We are prodded into these unnecessary wars by men that sell the war materials and make immense profits that they could never make in a peacetime economy. Many of the world's greatest fortunes were built by wartime profiteering.

Yes, I consider McCain and Graham to basically be Democrat. I don’t care if there is an R next to their names.
