Hybrid performance cars aren't anything new, but the cheapest is the near-$150,000 BMW i8. The people's hybrid muscle car car is on its way, thoughFord just announced a hybrid Mustang will debut in 2020.
Ford CEO Mark Fields made the announcement in a Tuesday press conference at the automaker's Flat Rock, Mich. assembly plant, where the Mustang is currently built. Fields also announced a hybrid F-150 and a 300-mile all-electric SUV will debut alongside the hybrid Mustang in 2020.

Yawn.
So, middle aged liberals won’t feel guilty....................
A yawn suggests indifference. My reaction would be an "ouch".
I stil want to see what Trump is going to do about CAFE standards.
Baloney.
Mustang II revisited.
That thing was such a joke it’s not even mentioned in some Mustang histories.
My brother had a 1980 or so Mustang with a 4 cylinder engine and 4 speed.
What a dog. That’s about the only car I’ve ever felt unsafe in. 0-60 was measured in minutes, not seconds.
My other brother just sold his 1986 Mustang GT. That was a fun car to drive...I mean hang on to.
My brother in law has a ‘65 under a cover in the garage. It hasn’t been uncovered in years and I have no idea what shape it’s in now.
I’m the only male of our generation to not have owned a Mustang. I’ve got work to do.
I guarantee it won’t be a Hybrid.
Ping!...............
I had a 72 Mustang Mach I with the 351 Cleveland; that car would fly, but it’s aerodynamics and steering were so bad that if you tried you would crash. I almost did several times.
A roommate had a 75 Mustang II, and that thing was a bumper to bumper piece of junk. Hard to believe Ford could screw up something good so quickly.
I will never buy one.
I will try my best to discourage anyone I know who is considering buying one.
These things are not environmentally friendly
And it was really ugly to boot.
Yea, I bet those are gonna fly off showroom floors, they won’t be able to keep up with demand. How do I get on the waiting list.........not.
I kid you not it had SHAG carpeting.
I made my share of mistakes, but luckily that was one I avoided.
To continue with the Ford fun, a hunting buddy had a Bronco II, which another hunting buddy derisively called a “Tinker Toy.” But having a 73 Chevy Vega as my first car made me a dedicated Ford man. Once Ford their act together in the late 1990s, their vehicles are better way better than GM. My son has a year old F150 and he loves it.
And Chrysler has been junk for as long as I can remember.
Done right, a Hybrid drive train can be a real performance boost. Think of it this way, those electric motors produce 100% of their torque at 0 RPM. This will be interesting to see.
No Need—Gas will be cheap, and better in 2020. It will be USA Gas—we will have so much we will be selling it to other nations. The EPA-Serra Club-Ted Storos “Climate Change” Chicken Little’s will be pushed into the dustbin along with Nazism. Communism and Progressiveism.
Hybrids and all electrics have produced some amazing cars of late. From the La Ferrari to the Tesla. Porsche is making an all electric. Fisker Karma has a gorgeous all electric. The i8 is another beautiful car. All beautiful high performance cars.
.I mean hang on to.....1968 SC Mustang 500KR. Be careful going from third gear to fourth. You can lose it.
