Without 60 votes, this bill goes nowhere.

The only way to (legally) kill Obamascare is for the House to defund it.

But, given that would require many of them to put their careers on the line, that’s not happening, either.

There is a simple way to force even the democrats to want to repeal this thing. As written the law allows exemptions to be handed out solely at the discretion of the administration. Obama and his lackeys have done so for favored groups repeatedly. Trump can simply enforce the law as written with no exemptions for any groups, they will be begging to have ObamaCare repealed.

It needs only 51 votes under special rules initiated by Harry Reid and the democrats.

The Republicans are using a budget resolution to provide for Obamacare’s repeal, allowing them to act without any Democratic votes. Budget resolutions require a simple majority to pass in the Senate, instead of the 60 votes normally required to clear procedural hurdles. There are 52 Republicans in the 100-seat chamber.

The budget resolution contains so-called reconciliation instructions, directing committees to dismantle Obamacare as part of reconciling taxes and spending with the budget blueprint - and to report back to the budget committee by Jan. 27.

"Nuclear option" run up by Reid will have it's day here and now. Simple majority and everything gets rammed through.

Trump can use the tweet of shame as his instant bully pulpit. Brilliant!

“So the GOP plans to repeal Obamacare the same way Democrats passed it: through budget reconciliation, because Senate rules limit debate (and thereby avoid the filibuster threat) on budget legislation.”

Seems like a sensible way to proceed. But they need to act now & not let the problem linger.

It was passed with 51 votes through reconciliation. It can be repealed the same way.

Even if 60 votes were required, by 2019 we should have that.

It was passed as part of a Reconciliation Bill which only requires 51 votes. It can be repealed by the same process and will. They only will need 51 votes to do it.

nope.

you kill it the same way it was created.

reconciliation.

gut an existing bill of everything, insert Obamacare repeal, and pass in reconciliation.
