Just checked Born on the Fourth of July. Oliver Stone cowrote the story with Ron Kovic. He also produced and directed it. Platoon came before that. You're correct, it is based on Oliver Stone's experience in the infantry in the VN war. The third movie in the VN war trilogy is Heaven and Heath, based on books by Le Ly who grew up in VN during the war.

Those who are sincere about their disgust with wars we had no business in since VN do not support the war mongering of O and hillary. Some although they did not endorse Trump, didn't endorse hillary, either. An example is Kucinich.

My point? There's an element among liberals who are probably not displeased the warmongers are being swept out of DC and people who know something about the military will be making responsible decisions.

And “Platoon Bravo Company” was Robert Hemphill’s, Stone’s company commander’s story. Decidedly broader, and taking in the experience from a combat leader’s experience.
