Following speech by Kerry, chairman of pro-settler party says idea of two-state solution is no longer relevant
The Israeli government will "remove Palestine from the agenda" when Donald Trump takes office as US president, Israeli Education Minister Naftali Bennett told Israeli news site Ynet on Thursday.
The chairman of the pro-settler Jewish Home party dismissed a speech delivered by US Secretary of State John Kerry a day earlier, which warned that Israeli policy was undermining the chance for a two-state solution to the Palestinian conflict.
"Kerry may have good intentions," said Bennett, "but the speech was like his policy completely detached from reality.
"The messianic idea of an Islamic state on Highway 6 has come to an end," he continued. "The era of the Palestinian state is over. On January 20, we will remove Palestine from the agenda."
The minister said he would act to "apply the law" in Jewish areas of the West Bank, including Maale Adumim and Ariel. "In the rest of the territory Palestinian autonomy," he added.
He further said that "the Palestinians already have a Palestinian state in Gaza, and they chose to turn it into Hamastan."
He told Ynet that this was the Israeli government's position.
Bennett said earlier this week that his party would "soon propose a bill to annex Maale Adumim" after the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution condemning settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem as illegal.
The president-elect does not believe Israeli settlement construction is an obstacle to peace, according to one of his senior advisers, Jason Greenblatt.
Earlier this month, Israeli daily Haaretz reported that Trump's foundation made a donation to a West Bank settlement in 2003 to the tune of $10,000. According to the report, it appeared that the gift was made in honor of Trumps attorney, campaign adviser and personal friend David Friedman, a pro-settlement hardliner who has been picked to be the [ next US ambassador] to Israel.
as disaster as Obama and Kerry have been for Israel I think we should thank them for blowing up the whole notion of land for peace that has been floating around since carter. At this point Israel should announce that all the land they control is there’s and the idea of trading land for peace has ended
Over the last 8 years Obama has also refused to increase American aid to Israel. With Trump and a GOP congress, that aid will double and the Israelis will even need more for annexation.
May as well just remove Palestine from the earth altogether. If we don't do it, God surely will.
Therel are over 20 arab states and only one little Jewish one, yet Arabs only are free if they are Israeli citizens.
The rabble in Ramallah are Egyptians or Jordanians by majority and should be forced out of Israel.
May Trump defund these Hamas terrorists, and give their aid money to Israel instead. I am looking forward to America having an embassy in Jerusalem by Passover, Next year in Jerusalem.

Good, no state for terrorists!

Makes sense, especially annexing areas that virtually everyone including Arabs pre Obama/Kerry expected to be part of Israel. What's left over, like Gaza, will be a state. Productive or not.
“The era of the Palestinian state is over”......
Unless I am totally mistaken, WHEN exactly was Palestin consider and legal “State” or a country?

That’s incorrect...funding has increased but with many more strings attached...
What do you mean by "free"?
Free to do what?
Bush's greatest mistake was to turn "freedom" from means to ends.
Freedom means different things to different people. To Hutu, it means freedom to slaughter Tutsis. To Afghans, it means freedom to implement Sharia. To Hindus, it means freedom to burn widows. To Americans, it means freedom to explore the solar system. To Brits, it means freedom to get passed out drunk and f*** their brains out on the weekend.
Freedom is a condition, which enables good, or evil. It is neither good nor evil in itself.
Reminds me of the prophecy in Zechariah 9:6 —
“And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines (Palestinians).”
I’m thinking of brocko the bastard (the Pride of the Palestinians) and his obsession with the Palestinian cause (whatever that is), and his move to take their part publicly precisely at the cut-off point of his BS administration (so that the cowardly move would not poison the waters for dimocrats with Jewish voters and donors).
The Palestinians are not the same people as the Philistines. The Palestinians are from Jordan.
Unless I am totally mistaken, WHEN exactly was Palestin consider and legal State or a country?

Several years ago I read, or heard some speaker comment, that contrary to popular fiction, there has never been any such thing as a Palestinian state or country. Anyone who knows the facts could do us a service by posting a clarification of this issue.

Well and truly said, and why FR is thought by many to be more educational than Internet degree programs.
Some are from Jordan, some from Egypt, some from Lebanon; they are pretty well mixed. There was an influx into Jordan proper of indigenous tribals when Israel became a nation. They were under the governance of Jordan when what is now Israel was called Trans-Jordan. The Jordanians couldn’t stand them and kicked a lot of them out. It is a mess; and, if there are any Philistines left, they are most likely Palestinians. At any rate, they act about the same, but without any real giants.
So thanks for your correction. I’ll keep it in mind.
