Debbie Reynolds -- who rose to stardom in "Singin' in the Rain" and quickly became a staple among Hollywood royalty -- died Wednesday as a result of a stroke, TMZ has learned ... just one day after her daughter Carrie Fisher passed away ... this according to her son Todd. Debbie was rushed to a hospital shortly after 1 PM when someone at the Beverly Hills home of her son, Todd, called 911 to report a possible stroke. We're told Debbie and Todd were making funeral plans for Carrie, who died Tuesday of cardiac arrest.
Debbie famously divorced Eddie Fisher in 1959 after his affair with Elizabeth Taylor. Debbie married 2 more times in 1960 and 1984. She played iconic roles in "Tammy and the Bachelor" and "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" ... for which she earned an Oscar nomination. Carrie's relationship with Debbie was the focus of Carrie's semi-autobiographical book, "Postcards from the Edge," which was later adapted for the big screen, starring Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine. Debbie's survived by her son Todd, who tells us, "She's with Carrie."

Decades ago, Debbie came to our small village, in the Connecticut River Valley as the house guest of charming Max Showalter. Her small town persona was very much like her screen character *Molly Brown*.
As I recall,she was bubbly, funny and effervescent. When Max came in to town for supplies, he drove an old beat-up station wagon. Debbie in her inimitable way, had about half her body hanging out the car window, waving and shaking hands. She seemed to dump the left coast fame, for small town New England life.

This has been the worst year for celebrity deaths since '77.
I am just your every day Southern lady. God never gives us more than we can handle with His help. Use it with my blessing. We all need to be reminded about life. We never know what tomorrow will bring. Just look at Debbie Reynolds’ family. They had no clue a few days ago what their future would hold. Another thing. Tell your loved ones you love them. I end all my phone calls and texts with those 2 words. I had trouble getting a relative to say that but now we both say, “love you.” It is free and worth your time. God bless.
My grandfather died after my father was shot down and MIA in World War 2. He died not knowing my father survived and was a POW for the last year of the war. My father always had a hard time with that. Broken heart syndrome is real.
RIP. Sad end to the year.

How very sad. RIP Debbie. One thing I hadn’t known until Carrie passed, was that she had a daughter named Billie Lourd who I just learned played Chanel #3 in both seasons of Scream Queens. I watched both seasons, but hadn’t realized she was Carrie Fisher’s daughter.

Glen Frey was quite a celebrity but I have a harder time seeing that when he is part of a group. I never got much into celebrity, which includes bothering to know the individuals in a singing group, so it has to reach a certain level for me to know the person (I know many of those listed, just don’t know if I consider them truly at the level most people would’ve heard of).

My oldest son was 11 when Star Wars came out. He practically lived at the theater. He just turned 50, and is very sad over Carrie's passing.
