When John Tereska’s Trump-voting family members open their gifts from him on Christmas Day, they will get a shock.
Inside pretty boxes they’ll find notes thanking them for making donations to organizations like Planned Parenthood and the Sierra Club that support causes expected to come under attack from the new administration.

We exchanged gifts with our employee this morning.
In the past we mostly exchange gift cards and a hand made gift, like cookies. As the employers, we do that, plus a cash gift approximately equal to half a weeks wages.
Our employee is wonderful at her job, but a flaming liberal. Full bore atheist, tattoos, and enough of a snowflake that she came in late the morning after the election and was wearing a safety pin by Thursday. She’s been holding a grudge ever since.
Anyway, this morning instead of a gift card to a restaurant or movies, she put in a note that she had made a $25 donation in our name to some Save the Bees organization. Oh yay!
At least she still gave us some cookies...

If someone in my family makes a donation to Planned parenthood in my name thats grounds for never talking to them again. What kind of person would do this kind of revenge giving to a family member?
My husband threw his extremely liberal sister and her family out of our house on Christmas Eve back in 2004 or so because of their rude and boorish behaviour. He unfriended her on facebook a few years ago for the same reason.
Some people are simply poison.
You are absolutely right. Just because they are family doesnt mean you have to endure massive doses of poison at family get togethers. Especially if its at your house.
I know a woman, retired professor, who proudly posted on her Facebook that she and many others had this campaign going to donate to Planned Parenthood in Mike Pence’s name and they were begging others to join them.
This made me angry and I spent some worthless time explaining why to them, but they think it’s acceptable to do this because Mike Pence is trying to take women’s health choices away from them. They’re all a bunch of old ladies stuck on this idea.
The lack of open mindedness was amazing.
Let them waste all the money they want. Who cares? Lol
Tell them you’ll sign them up for porn sites and NAMBLA.

My husband is a big easy going guy. He’s the one who outed me to the family. He thought it wouldn’t matter to anyone how I voted. That started a huge brouhaha and he realized just how nuts they are politically. Other than that, they’re fine. My husband also had the same dating experience you had, too. That came as a bit of a shock to him too. I’m glad because now he’s with me.
