Less than a month out from President Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, there is exactly one musician confirmed to be performing, and that’s teenaged national anthem singer, Jackie Evancho, who lost “America’s Got Talent” six years ago. That’s it. Everyone from KISS to Garth Brooks to Elton John, to Andrea Bocelli has turned down offers to perform, and now the situation is dire enough that The Wrap reports the Trump team has making staff changes to make it work. In what was referred to as a “Hail Mary” move, Suzanne Bender, a talent booker for shows like “American Idol,” was hired to help “The Apprentice” producer Mark Burnett secure “A-list” performers for the inauguration.
According to The Wrap’s report, Bocelli was the closest to being booked before Bender was brought on, having agreed after a meeting with Trump. When word started to get out that he had agreed, though, he cancelled. Meanwhile, Las Vegas hotel magnate Steve Wynn apparently promised that he could get not just Brooks, who did a residency at one of his hotels, but also Celine Dion, only to come up empty. The prevailing sentiment was that those contacted did not want to “normalize” a Trump presidency.
The Presidential Inauguration Committee sent The Wrap this statement:
First class entertainers are eager to participate in the inaugural events. The inauguration as a whole will be an exciting and uniting celebration of freedom and democracy. We will be releasing further details at the appropriate time.

That’s exactly what happened.
The headlines would all be about Trump inviting a racist singer who called Obama a mongrel and called Hillary the “c” word. And saying this confirms that Trump is racist Klan supporter. blah, blah blah. It’s all a lie but it’s not worth the trouble of refuting. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Nuge, love his music and his ability to shoot down the left but in this instance it’s better to go with non controversial talent. The focus should be Trump not the entertainers.

Pomp and ceremony is important to the public. Makes them feel part of something bigger.
Yes, there’s trite top-40 Christian pop as bad as anything in the mainstream. But bands like Switchfoot ... NeedtoBreathe... Crowder... are true artists with their own unique voice. I like prog rock, metal, southern rock, Americana, alt/indie, and there are excellent Christian bands in all of these genres if you know where to look.
It’s overrated.
Just play this and call it a day.
The real problem is the entertainment industry’s black listing anyone if they assist Trump in any way. Trump needs to defang them ASAP.

Country Music ain’t Country anymore. I played pedal steel 5 to 7 nights a week for 30 years. Now I don’t have a “Country” station preset on my car stereo. And so much of it sounds like it’s being recorded in the same studio by the same engineer and producer.
