I said nothing about the D of I.
The D of I was written as a legal notification to the world of the justness of the cause for independence.
But for five long years, the promise of the D of I was just that—a promise—with no recognition by the world to back it up, with the exception of France, who had motives to fight the British.
Of course, the British Crown did not recognize the D of I in any way, and so committed troops and resources to quash the rebellion of its subjects.
This is why Franklin famously said “We must all hang together, or most assuredly, we will hang separately.”
They had committed treason against the Crown, and many of he signers paid a heavy price for their insolence to the King.
Until Britain was defeated before the world at Yorktown by Gen. Washington, with the help of the French, it was not willing to cede any territory to a bunch of rebels.
At the Treaty of Paris in 1783, the Crown formally recognized America as its own nation, and dropped all claims to it.
Until that happened, America was just an idea.
After that America was a proper nation, in the eyes of the Crown and of the rest of the world.
While the War of 1812 had the same nationalities involved, this was not a fight of people who lived in the same space, but rather an invasion by country into another.
Just in case you haven’t heard, the places Obama chose are not being sought as places to drill for oil.
To me .. this reeks of a false flag .. an opportunity for Obama to cause Trump to go ballistic .. however, I believe Trump will know these are false places to be drilling for oil.
Proving once again; Obama is just playing games .. he’s not really interested in protecting certain places, he’s only interested in pricking Trump .. and he’s hoping Trump will bite.

I have reread your posts. You are correct, you said nothing about the D of I in your explanation of the Revolutionary War, or as you style it America's first civil war.
I recommend that anyone discussing the Revolutionary War incorporate references to the D of I. Otherwise, the discussion becomes a one-sided repetition of the arguments made by the King of England, e.g. “the founding fathers committed treason”; “America was just an idea until the Crown formally recognized it”.
In my opinion, you really need to take the D of I into account in any discussion of the Revolutionary War. Or Lincoln's War.

I don't think that fleet of brand new Toyota trucks came from "Crazy Achmed's Aleppo Motors." I had assumed that the Saudis bought them and delivered them to ISIS. But no, it makes far more sense if you are Saudi Arabia, that you don't spend any of your money. You want the rebels to overthrow Assad and install your friendly regime in Syria so you and the Qataris can run the gas pipeline to Europe.
But why should you have to shell out your own money for it?
Now the money angle on this starts to make much more sense. There is $6 billion "missing" from the State Department books. Where did it go? To various shadowing "shell" entities set up and run by Saudia Arabia and Qatar. They used the money to buy a fleet of nice Toyota trucks for their ISIS buddies. They also purchased weapons. They also lined their own pockets as part of the deal. They don't have their fingerprints directly on the flow of money. And...
And they also gave generous donations to the Clinton Foundation and Election slush fund. I have seen figures of $25 Million but it was probably more. In the tangled web of murky financial transactions, it would not surprise me at all if those donations were actually our tax dollars, skimmed off the $6 billion, that were laundered through the Saudis and Qataris back to Clinton to get her elected. All so she could continue to be the Saudis puppet in foreign policy and do their bidding.
The worst part is that Clinton was so stupid, corrupt and greedy that she would have involved us in a shooting war with Russian forces in Syria to get the Saudis their pipeline. She was making statements in the late stages of the campaign that indicated she was willing to do exactly that. The whole point of demonizing Russia was to prepare the American public for another senseless war. A senseless war that costs American lives so some rich sheikhs can make a gigantic pile of money at no cost and no risk to themselves. It was in complete disregard of the Cold War 1st Rule of Non-Engagement: Russians and Americans DO NOT shoot at each other. Ever. The reason is clear; both sides have a lot of nuclear weapons aimed at each other. But she didn't care about that.
And the media told us Trump was the irrational reckless candidate. I really shudder when I think of just how close that woman came to becoming President of the United States.
And thanks again for reminding me of the money; I think I now have a very clear picture of exactly what has been going on and what we so narrowly avoided. And I doubt the American public will ever connect the dots and know for sure. The media sure as hell isn't going to expose it. They were part of it.
