"What would the past year have been like without public television and radio?

Imagine it — a year without Morning Edition and All Things Considered. What if FRONTLINE halted its latest investigation? No Nature, NOVA, or Masterpiece?"

Since it is slanted mostly left-wing anyway, why don't all these people who would miss NPR and public TV get donations from all those rich democrats to fund it themselves? If anything was the most shocking revelation to me about the recent election, it was just how much big business and Wall Street are in bed with the democrats. So despite the lie that big business and big money is a Republican thing, the truth is the complete opposite. Let the viewers and their rich democrat donors support it. Create their own network and radio station. Call it the WHN.(pronounced "Whine"). As a deplorable, I would rather spend my money elsewhere.

then there would be static on that frequency.
In other words, no difference, but for the saving of a lot of money.

A little PBS history.

Per wikipedia:

"The network was founded as the Educational Television and Radio Center (ETRC) in November 1952 by a grant from the Ford Foundation's Fund for Adult Education."

"The organization changed tactics again in November 1963. It renamed itself National Educational Television, and spun off its radio assets. Under the centerpiece program NET Journal, NET began to air controversial, hard-hitting documentaries that explored numerous social issues of the day such as poverty and racism. While praised by critics, many affiliates, especially those in politically and culturally conservative markets, objected to the perceived liberal slant of the programming."

"PBS began operations on October 5, 1970, taking over many of the functions of its predecessor, National Educational Television (NET), which later merged with Newark, New Jersey station WNDT to form WNET.[5] In 1973 it merged with Educational Television Stations."

Ford Foundation 1952 report check out page 9 item 1.

NPR and PBS need to be done away with.

Just take the "P" out and have people listen to commercials or pay for a subscription.

There would be one less station that works the gay activism agenda into every single news article.

I hope they stick around, but self-funded. The taxpayers should not pay one dime for this.

All new TV’s have multiple HDMI inputs and most PC’s/laptops have pne or multiple HDMI outputs.
Do what i did and buy a long HDMI cable from monoprice.com real cheap and cut the cord forever.

Perhaps they should have thought about that before running 24x7 anti-trump propaganda.

There would be a small “pop” as air displaced the vacuum created, followed by a horrendous wailing and gnashing of liberal teeth as they predict an epic catastrophe that will never materialize.

From WikiPedia...

Funding

In 2010, NPR revenues totaled $180 million, with the bulk of revenues coming from programming fees, grants from foundations or business entities, contributions and sponsorships.[20] According to the 2009 financial statement, about 50% of NPR revenues come from the fees it charges member stations for programming and distribution charges.[20] Typically, NPR member stations receive funds through on-air pledge drives, corporate underwriting, state and local governments, educational institutions, and the federally funded Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). In 2009, member stations derived 6% of their revenue from federal, state and local government funding, 10% of their revenue from CPB grants, and 14% of their revenue from universities.[20][34] While NPR does not receive any direct federal funding, it does receive a small number of competitive grants from CPB and federal agencies like the Department of Education and the Department of Commerce. This funding amounts to approximately 2% of NPR’s overall revenues.[20]

During the 1970s and early 1980s, the majority of NPR funding came from the federal government. Steps were taken during the 1980s to completely wean NPR from government support, but the 1983 funding crisis forced the network to make immediate changes. According to CPB, in 2009 11.3% of the aggregate revenues of all public radio broadcasting stations were funded from federal sources, principally through CPB;[35] in 2012 10.9% of the revenues for Public Radio came from federal sources.[36]

In 2011, NPR announced the roll-out of their own online advertising network, which allows member stations to run geographically targeted advertisement spots from national sponsors that may otherwise be unavailable to their local area, opening additional revenue streams to the broadcaster.[37]

2013 saw the launch of Center Stage, a mix of native advertising and banner ad featured prominently on the NPR homepage, above-the-fold. The launch partner for Center Stage was Squarespace.[38]

In 2014, NPR CEO Jarl Mohn said the network would begin to increase revenue by having brands NPR views as more relevant to the audience underwrite NPR programs and requesting higher rates from them.[39]

US taxpayers should not be on the hook for the leftist claptrap broadcast by NPR and PBS. They should rise or fall on the basis of their own merits.
