'There Can Be Only One Response': Putin Reacts to Assassination of Russian Ambassador
Townhall.com ^ | December 20, 2016 | Cortney O'Brien

Russian President Vladimir Putin joins a host of world leaders who have had to respond to brazen terror attacks on Monday. One of those attacks happened in Ankara, Turkey, where Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov was killed in cold blood by a police officer who was standing behind him during a speech in an art gallery. After he shot Karlov several times in the back, the killer screamed that he did it for Aleppo. The entire attack was caught on camera.

Putin has vowed revenge.

"A crime has been committed and it was without doubt a provocation aimed at spoiling the normalization of Russo-Turkish relations and spoiling the Syrian peace process which is being actively pushed by Russia, Turkey, Iran and others," said a stern-faced Putin.

"There can only be one response - stepping up the fight against terrorism. The bandits will feel this happening."

Monday's other tragedies occurred in Berlin, Germany, where a truck driver plowed into a crowd in a Christmas market, murdering 12 people and injuring nearly 50 others. German Chancellor Angela Merkel defined it as a terror attack. The killer may still be at large.

In Zurich, Switzerland - again on the same day - a gunman injured several people near an Islamic center.

They are going to blame this on NATO and the Syrian resistance group headed up by that guy living in Pennsylvania. (Weather or not that is true is not relevant to the position they may take, as far as they are concerned it is true). By the end of the week we will be accused of harboring this guy like Pakistan did with Bin Laden. President Dumbo should not make open ended threats like the one he did last week, because anything that happens (like your random assassination) can now plausibly be blamed on us. Try to prove you didn’t do something. We have an idiot for president. the seeds of WWIII have just been planed and he is on a 2 week golfing vacation in Hawaii.

ISIS has fallen back to Mosul. Look for intense bombings of Mosul. Putin will level the town.

I totally agree. I don’t like Putin and I don’t trust him. But one has to acknowledge that he will defend his country. Something Obama would never do in a million lifetimes.

Russia and Putin are pretty much alone as the prime effective opposition to terrorist Islam on the planet, yet they are winning.

Remarkable.

All anyone has to do is look up the Russian response to the atrocity in Beslan and they know exactly what will happen.

After Beslan, you count count the number of terrorists captured by Russia on one finger. The number of dead terrorists rose dramatically.

I agree. At least with Putin, you get the feeling that the “international community” can go pound sand because he is looking out Russian interests— which should be his job! Russias interests are not necessarily congruent with America’s. After watching the Obama apology tours, several European nations commit suicide, and an increasingly demanding global governance movement, taking care of number one seems to be long overdue. I think that is what many are hoping for with Trump.

Another one was killed as well, yet is not getting reported outside of the UK: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4050840/Russian-diplomat-shot-dead-home-Moscow-hours-assassination-ambassador-Ankara.html

Good lord, someone wants war with Russia before Trump gets in. Very sad!

NATO is still building up around Russia, we just sent 1600 tanks to the Netherlands - 'In case Russia decides to become aggressive'.

Hopefully Trump can stop this disaster in the making. The rest of the idiots wanting this war with Russia - and is it over pipelines in Syria? - well, they are doing it for some reason. Pipelines works for me.

Revelation says things will get hotter in Syria, too. Then it says the world will be astonished when Russia blatantly tries to invade Israel “to take a spoil” ...and gets a big, supernatural surprise.

Turkey is largely made up of Sunni Muslims. Turkey, Russia, and Iran are in Syria slaughtering Sunni Muslims. This is why the assassin did what he did on behalf of his countrymen who are perplexed and distraught at what they see their own country is doing in Syria.

Not rationalizing, just trying to shed some light on a very confusing set of circumstances.

Maybe you can help me understand something here; why exactly are we against Assad? Please don't say that he's against Israel or the like because everybody is against Israel and, besides, he's not fighting Israel in this war.

Shouldn't we be on the side of whoever's against Al Qaida/ISIS?

What you gonna do Vlad-tell them ‘cut it out!’ /S it is sad when I have more respect for a Russian dictator than I do for the current POTUS.

why exactly are we against Assad?

The same reason we were against Qudaffi and Saddam. He’s a despot that rules with an iron fist. We learned with the other two what happens when we take them out and then leave. In this case, Russia decided to get involved so the muslims didn’t get the upper hand, yet again.

I keep finding myself saying, “if the resistance in Syria is Muslim, I’m not interested in getting involved. I’ll take a secular despot over muslims any day. As we learned with the Nazis, secularists don’t blow themselves up.
