Ohio (Trump) presidential elector resigns, blames 'political bullying'
Columbus Dispatch ^ | 19 Dec 16 | Robert Wang

Posted on 12/19/2016 9:42:45 AM PST by xzins

State Rep. Christina Hagan, R-Marlboro Township, indicated that she will resign as a presidential elector after two residents over the weekend filed an emergency lawsuit alleging that the Ohio Constitution prohibits a state legislator from serving as a presidential elector.

“It is unfortunate that the extreme left has engaged in what is the most obvious display of partisan and extreme political bullying that can occur,” said a post on Hagan’s Facebook page late Sunday night. “I however will gladly resolve any potential frivolous lawsuits from moving forward by resigning my opportunity to Chair and cast a vote as a member of the Electoral College in order to ensure no delay in the official election of Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States.”

You expected something different from the left?

All of Louisiana’s electors just voted for Donald J Trump of New York!

Perhaps about 50 protestors at the event.

Wimp. Stand by you convictions and commitments.

That is not the issue. She's resigning because two people filed a lawsuit due to the fact that state legislators apparently cannot be EC voters. I'm guessing it's an obscure statute that no one was aware of. Leave it to DemocRATS to dig up this kind of stuff when it suits their needs.

Well call her and get details of who’s harrassing her. There are LEOs and former LEO’s as well as former government agents that cold pass info along to help and protect her unless what she said is just a charade...

I hope the media devotes a good long time to the protesters. Great for the GOP.

She either stands aside and lets someone else vote for Trump or she stands her ground and embroils the elector slate from Ohio in a legal challenge. Sometimes, discretion is really the better part of valor.

If she took the role despite a valid state prohibition against it, she should be admonished by the party - alongside the party officials who allowed it.

To: xzins; The Mayor
The democrats make so many rules and then they use to government to beat your head in with them.

One of our long term freepers The Mayor had a rogue prosecutor file charges against him for voting where the board of elections office TOLD HIM to vote.

If I have the history correct, The Mayor has lived in Grand Island his whole life, and has been a thorn in the side of the local democrats that whole time.

His business was there and he voted in the same place for years.

He TEMPORARILY was staying in Niagara Falls after his landlord evicted him in ANOTHER partisan sleaze move, but he still worked in GI and was in the process of setting up his new residence also on GI.

He ASKED the elections officials where he should vote, since he was registered in GI and was only temporarily staying overnight elsewhere (he still worked in GI every day) and they TOLD HIM to vote where he always voted. He did, and he only voted once.

A piece of crap prosecutor (a TEMPORARY one at that) filed FOUR FELONY charges against him. He was the only person ever to be charged with that crime since Susan B. Anthony. (He deserves to be in that company!)

They wanted him to plea bargain to one felony which had a possible 1 to 4 year sentence.

THIS IS WHAT KINDS OF PIECES OF CRAP run the government and if you get in their way, look out.

Even the local (liberal) newspaper said the charges should be dropped in the name of justice. (The POS prosecutor lost his election bid, by the way.)

Mayor let me know (here or PM) if I have revealed too much. I know you are not one to parade your issues in front of the whole world but you deserve justice and that prosecutor should be Nifong'ed.

Wimp. Stand by your convictions and commitments.

The hillaristas are out of control. Best to have an elector whose vote could not be contested in court, regardless how far-fetched the lawsuit would be. Dragging it out could deprive Trump of that vote.

Sad, isn't it? Pray that under DJT the sedditionists are brought under control and we can be America again.

So she steps down, they appoint an alternate, and Trump still gets all of the Ohio electoral votes.

Sounds like she's defusing a lawsuit that would be used to "demonstrate illegal activities by Republican Electors"...

The plaintiff is not right. She is not a member of Congress. If she were, she could not be an elector.

As she said, she's doing it so that there will be no delay in awarding the electoral votes to Trump. Hardly a wimp attribute.

This is my district and I know Christina. She lives close to me and my hubs is friends with her brother.

Small world...I recall her as a little rug rat when I worked for Doc Hirst back in the early to Mid 90s. She lived just down across the street from him and next to his office.

I say if you commit vote fraud like you live in inner city Philadelphia, you serve jail time and ALL your benefits, food stamps, WIC, etc are suspended for 10 years.

What are the penalties for sedition? Those will be sufficient.

For all those carrying signs today demanding “Respect My Vote”, I say this:

1. Your vote was respected. It was counted.
2. Stop trying to disrespect MY vote by every means imaginable... many of them illegal.

“...same thing they did to Palin...”

The vast majority of “environmental progress” is also due to huge legal efforts to stop things. I am guessing that just as there are a lot of “alternates” to go to the national conventions, there are also a bunch of alternate electors that are glad to step in at the last moment.
