Queens State Senator Tony Avella gathered a dozens-strong crowd outside the Holiday Inn Express in Maspeth, Queensthe site of a bitter battle over the citys effort to lodge homeless familiesto launch a quixotic bid to beat Mayor Bill de Blasio in next falls Democratic primary, accusing the liberal leader of an arrogant top-down approach that ignores the needs of local communities.[snip]
It is time to stop dumping homeless families and individuals in hotels and motels throughout the city without support services and the prospect of stable long-term housing and without community notification or involvement, Avella said. It is time to put people and neighborhoods first in this city and politics last.[snip]
Like Thompson in 2009, de Blasio enjoys strong support among the minority populations who tend to dominate the Democratic primary, despite
>>>generally sour approval ratings overall and rock-bottom favorability among whitesparticularly with the home-owning, car-driving constituency Avella represents....
Questioned about his potential problems with nonwhites, Avella alluded to the group around him, which included numerous Asian-Americans and Indian-Americans, though no blacks.
I think if you look behind me, you see a very diverse group of community leaders, who have come here to support my campaign, my candidacy, so I think that speaks for itself, he told the Observer, a point he expanded on a short time later.
People are fed up with government, and I think that goes across the board. I dont think it matters what race you are, what ethnic background you are, where you live, what your economic background. People feel government is no longer being responsive, and I think that goes city, state and federal. And I think people want change. And Ive always been the maverick. [snip]
In 2012, he proposed a bill that would require any New York City business with a foreign language sign to also put up an equally large sign in English.
He chuckled today at suggested parallels between his current insurgent campaign and that of another outraged and outrageous Queens native, President-elect Donald Trump.
>>> But he left open the possibility of complying with Trumps plans to deport undocumented immigrants, which de Blasio has vowed to defy.
Define for me what sanctuary city means. I dont think anybody knows what that definition is, said Avella, referring to the popular phrase for cities that do not comply with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. When we have immigrants come to New York City, we welcome them. Theres no question that we love them. But we also have to recognize that we have a new president.
Lets see what he wants to do, and lets see if we can work together. Because New York City cannot survive without federal and state funding. So welllets wait and see what the new president decides to do.[snip]
Apparently the code-speak for white voters in NYC is "home-owning & car-driving."
Avilla is open to the idea of deportation of illegals and the dissolution of sanctuary cities.
Here's a clue Mr. Avilla, run with the campaign slogan:
Make NYC Great Again!
As president, Donald Trump will empower the opponents of sanctuary cities in their attempts to restore civility and law & order to their cities. Once the federal support disappears, the tax paying citizens will revolt and refuse to absorb the cost. de Blasio, Rahm Emanuel and the rest of these corrupted mayors are living on borrowed time.
DeBlexit.
Not a fan of the headline, disappointing that this is coming from Jared.

Liberals just want to dominate everything and everybody. Angry white males getting their way would upset the applecart so they race shame whites who get in their way or are legitimately angry.
Blacks get angry. Gays get angry. Latinos get angry. Women get angry. BUT God forbid, a white guy gets angry.
He kinda looks like Chris Matthews.
Then he automatically becomes a Trump supporting, KKK, Racist, Bigot, homophobe
The media is dying, and I am loving every minute of it
He is the publisher. He is allowing them to pander to their NY readership.
That catchy title encourages the viewer to read the article and discover why ‘whitey is angry. Avella’s is characterized as calm and reasonable, not angry. He’s only guilty of being -White. At least the article gave Avella some publicity and defined his PO
I bet the NYT just ignores Avella and that is worse for a political candidate.
Rent too damn high?
Great minds think alike, that’s perfect.

[ Angry White Guy From Queens Now Running to Oust NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio ]
Frank Costanza? Just wait until the airing of grievances.
That’s a political party headed by the black guy with the huge mustache.
And that’s why NYC has become so darn stinky because they force landlords to lower their rent far below the market value. Socialism stinks, literally.
DeBladios
I don’t even live near NY,but I would love to see de Blasio & others like him tarred & feathered & dropped off at city limits.
One lib running against another lib...
Avella is clearly the better guy who stands little chance unless de Blasio is prosecuted for his crimes.
De Blasio has been a destructive force within the city. The problem is that he has issued NYC ID cards that annex nearly 200k aliens to the citizenry, as they can vote.
He has ordered the list of aliens to be concealed from the federal government when Trump takes office.

Always support the lesser of two evils.
And if you read the article, the angry white guy, Avella, is not angry at all.
He’s just a White guy who will cooperate with DJT’s policies and restore NYC.
Thought this was about Bo Dietl until I read further.
