I usually prefer traditional shopping and I never liked shopping online, but it’s gotten to the point where it’s often a waste of time to go shopping at a retail store. The biggest problem I have is that these stores don’t carry the merchandise I need anymore. I now do more and more shopping online simply to ensure that I can find what I’m looking for.

A variety of unique stores, restaurants...

Which is completely impossible in today's malls because of the exorbitant rents, which can only be afforded by large national chain stores with big advertising budgets and low-cost merchandise through foreign supply chains.

There is a reason every single large shopping center in America now has virtually the exact same store lineup.

I’ll admit to being not much of a shopper. And I live in a smallish town. But are there real ‘department’ stores anymore. Stores that carry almost everything under the sun. When I was little, department stores were 5 or 6 floors that had almost anything someone could want. The local department stores are basically clothes and perfume/makeup.

If you ever get the chance, go through a Japanese department store. Restaurants, food like a grocery store, books like a bookstore, you can get lost.
