I was 10 when gthe war ended in Europe.

We had no television then but we did have newsreels swhown ain movie houses, including during saturday matinees which most children attended.

We all saw the horror of the camps that the Allies had just relieved. wE SAW THE BRUTALITY, THE STARVATION, THE GAS CHAMBERS. AND THE MASS GRAVES.

The grown-ups all solemnly swore: NEVER AGAIN.

They made a convention that told us all that where genocide is happening the nations of the world individually and collectively have a duty to do everything possible to stop it and punish the perpetrators.

We all felt assured that IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.

It was a.nice sentiment but it was as effective as the one about the First World War being the war to end all wars.

Well, there goes THAT pipe dream.

And this is the first time since WW II that it has been shattered? Please.

It will ALWAYS happen again because of the depravity of people.

And for the author to couch his opinions in terms of "winners" and "losers" is disingenuous at best. The interpretation of history rests on the biases of those who write it.

He's just trying to get his foot in the door..

What is happening in Syria/Iraq is NOT akin to the mechanized death camps of WWII.

Both wars are horrible but so say what is happening in Syria is equivalent to the systematic slaughter on an industrial scale of human beings is not the same about what is happening on the ground in Syria/Iraq.

Crimes against humanity, yes, Concentration camps> No. Do not tar these two events with the same brush.

It is happening again. Middle east Christians are being wiped out to the man. They are slaughtered in their villages in Syria and Iraq. When they manage to escape, they are murdered in the refugee camps. If they get to the boats headed for Europe they are tossed overboard and drowned. Once they get to Germany they are assaulted in the streets.

And US State Department policy is that Christians do not meet State criteria for consideration as refugees because... they are being murdered by a non-state entity. The Syrian rebels (Al Qaeda) and ISIS are non-state entities, therefor their victims do not qualify as refugees for relocation to the US.

Assad is a state actor, therefor his victims (Al Qaeda and ISIS supporters) do qualify as refugees.

That's why less than 1% of Syrian refugees in the US are Christians, and there have been Syrian Christians who made it to the US who were booted right back out by Obama's State Department. As I said, we are on the wrong side of this war. And this war could end tomorrow if Obama and the Turks willed it so.
