I absolutely believe and know it. My Mom subscribed and I read it when I visited her about every 2 months. Up to 10 (pure guess) years ago, yes, literary and highbrow, not exactly my cup of tea, but there was still an article or two out of six that I could enjoy. In recent years I simply could not get through a single paragraph without thinking “who gives a s**t”? and I’m not exaggerating. Not one paragraph. I would pick up a copy and think ‘I can’t even figure out how someone could get up the energy to not care about this drivel.’

I truly believe(d) it would have been worse with Clinton. With Obama, we were losing at halftime but had a chance to recover in the second half (the 2016 election). After eight years of Clinton, if she won, it would have been lights out, game over, final score.
As I understand it, she was already headed to the Atlantic before she posted the tweet that got her an early exit.
For all the years people have used social media, they still don’t understand it will bite them every time.

It's a shame; because it used to run really great articles. Two of them I remember after more than twenty years: Jihad vs. McWorld by Benjamin Barber in 1992 (an early exposition of the tension between Islam and modernity), and Dan Quayle Was Rightin 1993 by Barbara Defoe Whitehead, an outstanding pro-family scholar: the article pushed back on the left's celebration of single motherhood.
