Trump thought Giuliani ‘lacked stamina’ to be secretary of state

Donald Trump worried that Rudy Giuliani might lack the stamina to fulfill the duties of secretary of state, according to a report.

Once a leading candidate to be America’s top diplomat, Giuliani fell out of favor, in part because Trump began to question the 72-year-old’s fitness, according to the Wall Street Journal, which cited an unnamed transition official.

Giuliani strongly disagreed, telling the paper: “My stamina is unbelievable.”

The former mayor, who was one of the billionaire’s fiercest loyalists on the campaign trail, has said he has so far passed on two cabinet postings in the Trump administration, without specifying which posts.

I agree with Trump on this...I love Rudy, but I think S of S was just to much of a leap for him...

I would rather see Rudy as someone that takes down the ‘Clinton House of Cards’ and ‘Barky’s House of Cards’...

No surprise here. Anyone who has seen Giuliani in action over the years has noticed that he’s not nearly as sharp as he used to be.

This is ridiculous. It conjures visions of Trump giving his applicants a stress test and sending them to a Jack LaLanne spa for remediation.

Good call on Trump’s part. Rudy is a “legal guy” so to speak. He has such a great record there over the years. List of accomplishments incredible.

I think the issue was if Rudy would agree to no lobbying for 5 years after service. I don’t think he wanted to give up that business

Just my opinion

I tend to agree with this. His mind is sharp as ever but I think what is going to be asked of our SOS is tremendous. I would prefer we keep Rudy around longer because we need his wisdom more than we need someone jumping on a plane day after day

President Trump is going to need Rudy here

Really.

Fell out of favor?

Is that why he flys with Trump everywhere ?

Rudy's no fool and just as hillary has accepted (finally), there comes a time when you just, plain stop and enjoy the rest of your life.

At almost 69, my body has pretty much quit ... eyes, ears, limbs and internals ... and I'm VERY happy to be able to retire in relative comfort.

Rudy will forever be a strong and faithful friend to fellow New Yawkah, Donald Trump.Y

I call BS...excepting that perhaps Guiliani made something of it himself...which is probably the case.

Regardless, Guiliani is happy with his businesses and has and will always be watching Trump's back.

Guiliani is a great patriot. 911 tested us all. He passed the test with flying colors.

You don’t need stamina to be SOS.
Hillary proved that.

Trump doesn’t go for low energy chokers like Jeb! and Romney. A year ago he said he knew he could beat Hillary because she just wants to go to sleep

I saw one article, in one site that usually has excellent accuracy, that said that Rudy has a drinking problem, and Trump is sensitive to that issue in people that work for him. Whether that is true, I don’t know, I didn’t see any evidence of it in any of Rudy’s public appearances.

I agree with Trump. After his prostate cancer operation, Rudy has lost a lot of his agility.

Rudy is a good guy and is a natural for AG or DHS, or even an unofficial advisor to the president, but he’s not a diplomat and I thought he would be a poor job for SoS.

It has nothing to do with stamina.

That is my take on a whole lot of the people who would have flocked to these positions. The policy is a good move on Trump’s part.
