The spirit of Scouting should continue in similar organizations with deep religious roots. The less you hear about them, the better off they are. Modern Scouting has become nothing more than a giant fund-raising racket, which is why the former CEO of Exxon/Mobil was the president in the first place.
RE: All my sources are that Robert Gates was the man most responsible for the gaying of the Boy Scouts.
One man alone cannot change the policy. It takes a group and several voices. Gates and Tillerson are but two of them.
BTW, According to Breitbart, ExxonMobile is one of the many companies that DIRECTLY fund Planned Parenthood.
See here:
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/10/11/37-companies-directly-fund-planned-parenthood/
That's what the government is going to become. And by implication that's what all of us will become.
Tillerson still sits at the board of the BSA. That’s SOMETHING right there.
I am an Eagle Scout, good for Rex Tillerson. As far as I am concerned, the Scout Creed would be good for everyone in the new administration.
The homosexual lobby has been a burr in the BSA saddle for a long time, and not because of homosexual membership. The truth is that the left hates the organization and their values and has used homosexuality to bring the BSA down. As I say again, good for Tillerson.
One last note, one of the most respected leaders at my Scout Camp (Wolfeboro) was later outed as a gay man. This man never once showed his sexual orientation at a Scouting event. The Scouts wisely went to a no twosome policy between youth and adults.
The Scout organization making a comeback would be part of my definition of MAGA.
A rational person says “So how is this relevant to his qualification to be Sec of State”?
A political dogmatist feverishly combs every article of the persons past desperately hoping to find something to scream in hysteria about because the person is not ideologically perfect.
This “Purity Uber Alles” dogma has not worked for #Never Trumpers in the Primary, at the Convention, with your 3rd party spoiler or on Election day. It has gone beyond obsession to an unhealthy compulsion for some of you.
Most of you don’t seem to realize there is a danger of being the “boy who cried wolf” here.
Your post is a joke, right?
I do not support Rex Tillerson simply because he was nominated by Donald Trump, the man stands firmly on his own.
In less than a generation we have seen an entire society reverse its judgment on homosexuality. You might not like it but there it is. In reversing the judgment many have come to the conclusion that all matters of sexuality should be held to be a private matter, a retail matter between man and God and not subject to legal prohibition. Indeed, the Supreme Court years earlier had already ruled that the state might not regulate homosexual acts done between adults, or presumably among adults, in private. To illustrate how far matters had progressed, it had now become illegal to discriminate in business or to decline to do business with homosexuals just as it had become illegal to decline to do business with, for example, African Americans or religious groups.
This legal revolution applied equally to the Boy Scouts and it is not a surprise that ultimately the Boy Scouts redefined its mission so that it no longer required discrimination against homosexuality. In doing so, the Boy Scouts came to render unto Caesar.
Concerning the matter of the alleged doctrinal waywardness of Rex Tillerson as a globalist, nothing could be more absurd. Most Trump supporters have falsely defined globalism as engaging in international commerce. It is absurd to consider that the United States should not engage in international commerce at a time before domestic fields were opened by horizontal drilling and fracking in order to secure the petroleum a modern civilization needs if it is to survive.
You go where the oil is to be found in that means you engage around the globe. That is not "globalism" that is international trade which even Donald Trump will be the first to tell you he supports. Properly defined, globalism is the surrendering of sovereignty to foreign entities contrary to the Constitution.
Long before Donald Trump came on the scene, I and many others had been warning of the ambitions of the left to pry America away from its Constitution by exploiting international treaties, executive agreements, and international organizations. Many Trump supporters have come late to the game with half-baked notions.
There is no evidence that our putative Secretary of State will sacrifice American sovereignty. No, the fact that you disagree with him about homosexuality is not evidence that he will surrender sovereignty.
> > Good things.
> Kind of like the good things that happened to the Boy Scouts?
Of course not.
Such self righteous indignation.

Well, the argument sounds like -— his personal stance on domestic issues will have nothing to do with his stance when it comes to foreign affairs.
I am crossing my fingers and giving him the benefit of the doubt.
I do note that ExxonMoblile is one of the big companies that funded Planned Parenthood ( according to Steve Bannon’s own Breitbart News ).
Here’s hoping that he does not even bring up Boy Scout and Abortion policies abroad when he serves as Secretary of State.
As an Eagle scout, I also remember my oath and laws, even after 40 years. I volunteer as a range master for scout camps but I stay away from the politics (as do most scout leaders I know) because, even though I don't agree with the national policy now, I still see the value to youth of the programs.
My understanding of the current policy is to allow scouts to participate even if they declare their unnatural orientation. To some that's being tolerant and setting an example where these youth might not otherwise get such example. To others its a threat because its the camel's nose under the tent and we all know that its not enough for the LGBT community to just be tolerated.
Bottom line, Trump deserves the chance to pick his team. Its not necessarily going to be the team I would pick or the team you would pick. It never is. If we get 80% we will be doing good. So far I think he is about 90% so I am pretty satisfied, and certainly relieved we are not dealing with the Illary alternative.
Neither of your replies is relevant to what I posted. It’s difficult to respond to a non-sequitur.
I merely asked (rhetorically) if any senator would have the courage to raise this subject during the confirmation hearing. I’m not really seeing how that makes me, someone who never seriously considered supporting or voting for Ted Cruz, who voted for Donald Trump in the primary, and who voted for Donald Trump in the general, a “never Trumper.” Some of you people need to move on from the primary fight. President Elect Trump has. Why can’t you?
I dont get this. All my sources are that Robert Gates was the man most responsible for the gaying of the Boy Scouts.
Unsurprisingly, it has been reported that Gates recommended Tillerson to Trump.
Senator Helms during most of his tenure had more courage than probably 95 other of his colleagues combined.
Face it, this is just usual collection of knee jerk Never Trumpers looking desperately for the next thing to whine about because their god Cruz lost the 2016 GOP Primary.
Not at all. Trump has made a very bad pick here installing a carbon tax loving crony globalist at the 3rd post important post in the federal government. He’s going to be hearing about it from everybody except the Trump can do no wrong crowd. Guaranteed.
Yeah, John Kerry and Hillary are the gold standard for SOS. End of discussion. Have a good day.
FAIL.
