Shakespeare represents ALL writers in that he is antecedent to all of us who write, even the worst. They can tear down a portrait, but that is the equivalent of drawing the sea with a thimble. Good luck, snowflakes.
What did Shakespeare do? did he slice necks, rape women, bomb churches with people in them, fly planes into buildings, shoot up gays in a night club, drive trucks into crowds?
Oh, I get it! He’s White! That is the ultimate crime in today’s America.
This would be everywhere if all college was ‘free’!
“Shakespeare Bard From English Department”
Ubu Shaka has no portrait so bad luck. Of course his writings consist of scratches on rocks so it doesn’t really matter. Also, since there is no Uganda department he will never be given the credit a few disgruntled wacki believe
(wacki is plural for wacko)
“Who in their right mind would pay $69,000 per year or almost
$280,000 for an BA in English?”
How does the admissions office keep a straight face when they inform a potential student and parents that’s what it will cost? I’d be much more inclined to bust up laughing and calling them “suckers” when they signed on the dotted line.
Very good!..................
What is considered quotable from this person?

If I didn’t define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people’s fantasies for me and eaten alive.
- Audre Lorde
I would like to do another piece of fiction dealing with a number of issues: Lesbian parenting, the 1960’s, and interracial relationships in the Lesbian and Gay community.
- Audre Lorde
That’s the “best” of her work! In other words, all she can do is self-identify as a black lesbian, and that is sufficient to make her worth reading to these unemployable snowflakes who think identity politics is what matters in life.
Black, woman, AND gay beats just plain old gay.
According to those quotes of her, she would be appalled at what is being done in her name.....................
It is the winter of their discontent, made leaden summer by the glories of lousy writing and teaching.
“How bigoted does someone have to be to join a department called English or be an English major?”
Yeah! Bet the University of Pennsylvania doesn’t have a Swahili Department! Bunch of racists there at U of Penn!
It is the best of times and it is the worst of times at Upenn...............
How does any one writer represent a diverse range of anything? I suspect these children want to include in their Lit curriculum the authors of their coloring books.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair , we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way
—— C. Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities..............

Maybe they should have put up a portrait of Dr. Seuss..................
Just stuff their racism in their face and tell them Shakespeare was black.
If you pay taxes you probably did, although somewhat indirectly. See Pell grants etc.
Now it’s Lorde in the park plays. Meh
