WASHINGTON — American spy and law enforcement agencies were united in the belief, in the weeks before the presidential election, that the Russian government had deployed computer hackers to sow chaos during the campaign. But they had conflicting views about the specific goals of the subterfuge.
Last week, Central Intelligence Agency officials presented lawmakers with a stunning new judgment that upended the debate: Russia, they said, had intervened with the primary aim of helping make Donald J. Trump president.
The C.I.A.’s conclusion does not appear to be the product of specific new intelligence obtained since the election, several American officials, including some who had read the agency’s briefing, said on Sunday. Rather, it was an analysis of what many believe is overwhelming circumstantial evidence — evidence that others feel does not support firm judgments — that the Russians put a thumb on the scale for Mr. Trump, and got their desired outcome.
It is unclear why the C.I.A. did not produce this formal assessment before the election, although several officials said that parts of it had been made available to President Obama in the presidential daily briefing in the weeks before the vote. But the conclusion that Moscow ran an operation to help install the next president is one of the most consequential analyses by American spy agencies in years.

Agreed. The Dems and the GOP never thought that Trump would win, and I believe the reason for the recounts was to find out why the rigging for Hillary didn’t work. Then they threatened the Electors and that didn’t work. Now the Russian connection is the next step. The people of the united states have lost all control of the country. The Globalists (LW Fascists) will stop Trump from being sworn in. If this “Russian Connection” doesn’t work, there will be a significant event in the US, (In my honest opinion) possibly a terrorist attack committed by the Hillary camp or the Feds, and it will be blamed or linked to Trump. I’m still confused - how and what did Russia presumably do when they hacked? Give Trump more votes? I keep reading about the hacking but still don’t know what was done. Thanks in advance.

Doesn’t make sense for the Russians to do it. They were already getting what they wanted - most recently uranium, and could have used the info to blackmail her if she was elected.
The Government already assured us that the voting machines can’t be hacked, so they must be referring to hacks on the DNC and/or RNC systems. If someone within either party, or a journalist got the info and published it, would that be ok?
Well of course, that has been happening for years-that’s why we talk about an October surprise. There are 2 real issues here.
1. The material released must be true, because Jesse Jackson rushed out to tell Obama that he had to pardon Hillary, so what is going to be done about her crimes?
2. Politicians and Political parties should use secure systems so that they are not vulnerable to the public knowing their dirty secrets, if they want to engage in devious methods. Otherwise, they leave themselves open to hacking and blackmail, or a random act of journalism that exposes the truth to the American people-don’t hold your breath.
These are the same slimes who released information hurting GWB by saying that Iran had halted all it’s Nuclear R&D...
