Responding to intelligence officials’ report that Russia tried to influence the U.S. presidential election in favor of President-elect Donald Trump, Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain (R-Arizona) on Sunday said he doesn’t know what to make of Mr. Trump’s dismissal of the issue.
“I don’t know what to make of it because it’s clear the Russians interfered,” he told CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “Whether they intended to interfere to the degree that they were trying to elect a certain candidate, I think that’s a subject of investigation. But facts are stubborn things. They did hack into this campaign.”
In an interview with “Fox News Sunday,” Mr. Trump said Sunday that new revelations about Russia’s influence on his behalf are “ridiculous.”
“It’s just another excuse. I don’t believe it,” Trump said. “… Every week it’s another excuse. We had a massive landslide victory, as you know, in the Electoral College.”
McCain called for a select committee to further investigate the extent of Russia’s influence and intentions.
“I would like in an ideal world to have a select committee,” he said, adding that he would hope such a committee would be made up of leaders on the Senate Intelligence Committee, Foreign Relations Committee and Armed Services Committee.

John McCain is living proof of the axiom, “those who can’t, teach”. Remember how badly he lost to Obama in 2008, and he only did as well as he did because Sarah Palin was his VP. Imagine how much worse this “aisle crossing” clown would have done if she hadn’t been on the ticket. Remember him coming to DC for a meeting on the ‘fiscal crisis” during the election so he could appear bipartisan and “cross the aisles” on an “important issue”? He ended up owning a disaster that Obama smartly refused to be part of.
He’s a threat.

McCain seems to belong to the pres. He’s upset that the CEO of Exxon did some negotiations with Russia, but never gave a damn about Obama’s radical ties to BLM and Muslim Brotherhood?
It was reported as an anonymous leak from the CIA. Let’s have the CIA director personally in public lay out their case. Then I’ll pay attention with the provision that Clinton’s unsecured server would have made it possible for a first year computer student from pikertown to hack.
I don’t believe the wikileaks emails had any impact on the election.
I am, actually. The Russians had to walk right up to the line and actually threatened nuclear weapons if we did not back down from our threats against them in Syria. No sane thinking person wants to bear a risk of nuclear warfare to protect your vital interests against something entirely peripheral to the other side. And remember it was Hillary threatening nuclear warfare.
As Tom Schelling wrote on the subject a long time ago, nuclear weapons are like chicken. But we don't play chicken when we drive in opposed traffic on narrow streets. We learn to make accommodation for each other so that traffic flows without running a real risk of a head-on collision at each encounter. Trump understands that. Hillary wants the smashup apparently.
Exactly. McCain, along with the MSM, who use him as some kind of poster-boy, has been rendered irrelevant by the voting public this past election. He’s been talking this BS on conservatives forever. Who cares.

To my mind, Hillary didn’t exactly threaten nuclear warfare, but her idea of imposing a no-fly zone where US and Russian pilots would be eyeball to eyeball wasn’t far from it, considering the likelihood of accident and escalation.
So, diverting slightly, if the Russians value sanity, and the Russians think they can deal with the apocalypically minded Iranians in the nuclear area, are we missing something, or do they think they can ride the tiger, to their advantage and our disadvantage?

I guess Juan has a “Magic Eight Ball” he consults, because no one has yet laid out the specifics and Julian Assange says Russia was not his source. Maybe Trump should spring Assange, give him complete immunity and let him tell us where he got the $hit on the Donks.
I’ll breath easier when Dec. 19th arrives (8 more days). Jan. 20th will be when reality takes prominence once again, and fantasy floats out the window.
