Academy says 'gender fluid' actor can be nominated in both male and female categories

The Actors Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has determined that a woman born as a man can be nominated in both male and female categories.

Sigh.

The Wrap:

Kelly Mantle, a gender-fluid performer who was a contestant on the sixth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” has made Oscar history as the first potential nominee eligible in both male and female categories, TheWrap has learned.

Mantle plays a transgender prostitute in “Confessions of a Womanizer,” a Miguel Ali indie from Harbor House Films starring Andrew Lawrence and Gary Busey.

The film’s producers ran into a dilemma when filling out Oscar paperwork, which required them to classify Mantle, who was born a man, as either male or female. Mantle was submitted for consideration in both categories, and the Academy confirmed that the performer can be nominated in either one.

There was no "dilemma" by any stretch of the imagination - only an effort to advance and legitimize the notion of "gender fluidity."

I think this is going to turn into another case of the transgender trumping women in the women’s awards, akin to Jenner getting the women’s awards without even being a “woman” for a year and despite having male plumbing.
Real women aren’t woman enough for women’s categories and getting beat by mentally ill men ... down to the men beating them in many women’s sports categories, too.

ACTOR huh?

Hope this actor wins both.

It’ll have to piss off others in the same category.

This is what feminism has gotten us. A man wins female athlete of the year. A man gets a Covergirl cover. A man is nominated for best actress. Ugh. Well, feminists, is this the "equality" you wanted? I'm guessing not.

As a conservative woman, I can only shake my head at this stupidity/insanity.
