Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto says army to stay in streets

MEXICO CITY - Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said Friday troops will remain in the streets to combat drug violence after his defence minister issued a rare complaint about the controversial deployment.

Although Pena Nieto acknowledged that the soldiers and marines have been doing law enforcement tasks that "don't correspond to them in the strictest sense," he said the armed forces are "determined to continue" policing the streets.

The military deployment has allowed "cities and regions in our country to return to peace and calm," he said.

Defence Minister Salvador Cienfuegos said on Thursday that the military "didn't ask" to be fighting criminals.

"We don't like it. We didn't study how to chase criminals," the general said.

"Our function is something else and it's been made into something unnatural. We are doing things that don't correspond to our training because there's no one else to do them."

They don’t like playing cops. Pobrecitos.

Our Border Patrol wasn’t trained to serve as nannies to Mexican border jumper children, but here we are.

The people keeping their own private arms is the most natural defense of a nation.

They don’t want to be in the position of having to fight the general populace if things turn from drug wars into full blown revolution.

BTW, why does Mexico have or need a military? What is the perceived threat? The drug gangs are a far bigger threat than any outside force.

"We study how to become criminals after we're discharged. He elaborated.

To protect the very few incredibly wealthy, such as Carlos Slim, in the ruling class elite from the massive numbers of the very poor near destitute peasant class majority.
Mexico as a country simply doesn’t work.

The return of the repeat felons who used to boomerang right back to us will get their attention.
Once the bus loads of illegals begin processing back in old Mexico the mierda should hit the fan.

Perhaps it was necessary for the Defense Minister to say something like that, to dispel any notion that troops-in-the-streets = coup d’état.

The Los Zetas drug cartel is or was former special ops trained at Fort Benning.
The Army policing “drug problems” means refereeing which group gets the lucrative narcotics and human trafficking franchises.

The Mexican legislature is debating that right now.

IOW the invasion of mules carrying poison into this country won’t stop until ‘seat of the pants’ evictions begin and we have walls and doors to slam shut and locked to keep them out.
And for any American’ts, all this takes to work is the will to do it.

Now, is he going to put any of them on the border, or send them on raids through Juarez or Tiajuana?

I feel so sorry for the people of Mexico. I live in Brownsville and have many family members, including my fiancee, in Matamoros, walking distance from my house. They’re just a mess. I would like for Trump to help them somehow, and enrich their lives back home, but that’s not to say I am not for deportation. I managed to convince my Mexican family members in Matamoros basically that Trump is not the devil, and u even managed to flip a few away from Univision. But what the illegals wanna do, these DREAMers, can’t fly. They’re too much a drain on us, as uncaring as that sounds. We need to look after our own interest. A tough sell in Mexico. Good thing I can be convincing.

Well I wish the best for your family. The situation has changed what should be local neighbors and neighborhoods into a war zone. Another gift from the left.

And Univision is Spanish language "the mouth of the devil" . There is literally no check to the filthy propaganda they spew constantly. One of the worst being that time that "El Gordo y la Flaca" had Hillary on and they basically fell at her feet worshipping her, nearly causing my wife to projectile vomit across the room.

I hope they go down hard. They won't go away, but they deserve an @ss kicking for their disgusting propaganda, perhaps moreso since Spanish channel alternatives are so limited that they basically abused a captive audience.

The only army that needs to be in their streets is OUR army. We have our troops half way round the world to unseat unfriendly gubbamints and install supposedly pro-democracy leaders....Now it's high time we go down into Messy-co and unseat the corrupt leaders. Now this IS IN OUR national interest. There is terror going on everyday in Messy-co. Folks hanging from bridges, decapitated bodies, shootings/bombings goin on in residential areas.

Messy-co is a mess. It is a very wealthy country believe it or not. Gold/silver, gems, oil, tourism, agriculture, fishing, manufacturing. All the wealth gets sucked up by a few elites. Also, wanna speak about inequality? Racism? Messy-co is one segregated society. The blond hair, green eyed, light skinned Spanish and the dark skinned, dark hair indigenous folks we see crossing the border by the millions.

Anyhow...time to do a lil fix-r-upper down South.

We used to visit Ixtapa in Dec-January when we lived in Minnesota.
Great beaches, good chow, Mexican Marines would walk the beaches every day.

Not any more...

No, Mexico doesn't work. Centuries of systemic corruption and racism has left Mexico destitute and crime ridden. It's a place where Mexican politicians steal everything in sight and blame the United States. Their idea of caring for their underclass is to tell them to invade us and let the Yankee gringos care for you. Until Mexicans understand they must have a society based on the respect of and rule of law nothing will change.
