In the end it doesn't really matter either way, Suprun states "December 19th is when the election actually happens. And that's when we'll find out who is President." He is incorrect, the election actually happens on January 6th when Congress meets to review the electoral votes.
"Members of Congress can object to any state's electoral vote count, provided objection is presented in writing and is signed by at least one member of each house of Congress. An objection supported by at least one senator and one representative will be followed by the suspension of the joint session and by separate debates and votes in each House of Congress; after both Houses deliberate on the objection, the joint session is resumed. A state's certificate of vote can be rejected only if both Houses of Congress vote to accept the objection. In that case, the votes from the State in question are simply ignored. The votes of Arkansas and Louisiana were rejected in the presidential election of 1872."
So in layman's terms, Congress can reject any votes by "faithless electors" with a protest by a single member of Congress and a single Senator which triggers a majority vote in the House or Senate to sustain the objection. If the vote passes, the electoral votes in question are tossed.
If at that point no candidate has 270 electoral votes then that removes the electoral college from the equation entirely and kicks the election to a vote in the House where each state delegation votes as a block and Trump will win easily, as Republican have a substantial majority of state delegations.
So under every scenario devised, Trump will still win.

Don’t forget the attempted coup within the GOP to try to force Trump to step down over “P****gate.” On the one hand, Trump not only survived but triumphed. On the other hand, it shows that there was a cabal within the GOP who were willing to try the coup.
Keep in mind who these Electors are. They are GOP insiders. However, now that Trump has won, there is no way they are going to take a shot at the king if they don’t know they are going to dethrone him. In the end, any of the traitors who are thinking of going rogue will back down and cast their votes as they should. They won’t risk Trump’s revenge if they don’t succeed. Their “principles” are only to themselves.
I don’t think he is willing to throw away his political career over a symbolic vote.

Our local gay R county chair, (in a very important Florida 1-4 county) would do nothing in the General Election because, in reality, he didn’t like Trump and Pense on gay issues.
Because of that we lost at least 4000 statewide votes that should have gone for Trump. We also lost, downballot, a great congressman/congressional seat to the Dems and state officers too.
In our county that was moderately R 8 years ago, a decent Republican State’s Attorney also lost to a rabid lib Amish Dem, who was Soros funded, and whose husband has an extensive record of felony drug selling convictions.
But.... of course.... “he turnin his life around....”
All because our Chair didn’t “like” Trump.
