Fox News just announcing.
In his post astronaut life, the best thing I’ve seen is the episode of Frasier where he’s assisting with a radio program on spaceflight. While Frasier and Roz are arguing in the control room, he’s recording his sightings of alien creatures. He ends up taking the tape with no one other than him knowing what’s on it.

No, no. Navy Captain Alan Shepherd was the first American in space - if you want to discount the many X - 15 flights which made it to the fringes of space.
He had balls of tempered steel to do what he did.

Do you remember that time while he was talking on camera to a reporter a guy walked up and punched him in the face? Cold cocked right on camera. Never knew what that was about.
He was my senator, too, during the 1980s. I take a much dimmer view of his Senate record than you.
My father-in-law flew F4Us with him in the South Pacific......used to call him “Red” Glenn because he had red hair.
