Block Impeachment of IRS Commissioner (WTF?)
Conservative Review ^ | 12/7/16 | Staff

Posted on 12/08/2016 11:57:44 AM PST by Baynative

This vote was on whether or not IRS Commissioner John Koskinen's impeachment should be blocked. Conservatives have made the case that Koskinen was involved in covering up and hampering Congress' investigation into the IRS targeting of conservative groups and conservative speech. Koskinen has been accused of repeatedly lying under oath and refusing to cooperate with congressional investigators.

In June 2014, he told Congress that since the start of this investigation into former Director Lois Lerner, every email had been preserved. Yet, just three months earlier, IRS officials magnetically erased 422 backup tapes containing as many as 24,000 of Lois Lerner’s emails. House conservatives brought articles of impeachment to the floor accusing Koskinen of violating the public trust of his office. Instead of affirming the articles of impeachment and sending them to the Senate to be tried, the motion was blocked.

For years, Congress has abdicated its oversight powers and the accountability tool of impeachment against abusive executive officials. Koskinen was a perfect candidate for impeachment and this would have been an opportune moment to strengthen congressional power and deter future executive officials from malfeasance and to hold corrupt government officials accountable. A vote in support of this motion was a vote to block impeachment. - See more at: https://www.conservativereview.com/votes/h6081142016#sthash.0FpGjwlC.dpuf

“No impeach lerner. If they won’t take her down then why am I paying taxes?”

Perhaps you should go look up impeachment and also look up her present status ...

“So much for draining the swamp!”

Trump will replace him sooner than the Senate could get a conviction ...

Jeff Sessions voted to block the IRS Commissioner’s impeachment?

Kind of like Ted Cruz voting for the Corker Amendment.

I got to ask Ted why he voted for the Corker Amendment during the primary, and he explained they thought it was the best way to stop Iran from getting nukes.

“Jeff Sessions voted to block the IRS Commissioner’s impeachment?”

No, it was Pete Sessions - my stinking RINO congress critter (who I voted against this year),

“Sessions”

You know that’s Pete Sessions, right?

“I would like to hear from the Congressmen’s constituents. What do they think...?”

Pete Sessions is my congressman. I voted against him in the primary and the general, this year.

It isn’Jeff Sessions, who is a Senator. It is Pete Sessions who voted not to impeach.

“Just close down the police departments and courts.

I mean, if that’s the way you want to go, go for the brass ring.”

I understand the logic, my argument would be though that there is only so much resources, especially during a time of transition and forward planning, and especially on a matter for which much time has past. Pursuing it further would expend resources better used on taking new ground.

"Impeach him now he gets pardoned.

The power to pardon is one of the least limited powers granted to the President in the Constitution. The only limits mentioned in the Constitution are that pardons are limited to offenses against the United States (i.e., not civil or state cases), and that they cannot affect an impeachment process . A reprieve is the commutation or lessening of a sentence already imposed; it does not affect the legal guilt of a person. A pardon, however, completely wipes out the legal effects of a conviction. A pardon can be issued from the time an offense is committed, and can even be issued after the full sentence has been served. It cannot, however, be granted before an offense has been committed, which would give the President the power to waive the laws.

Not sure if he stuck around long enough to get vested for pension funds. He made most of his money like Romney at a corporate turnaround company.

Jessie Jackson gets disability and retirement.

Put five guys in the Justice Department on it and let them go to work.

This is thirty years overdue with Hillary, and there is no deterrent like a conviction.

Certainly no one can argue that point, Black Elk. Treachery seems to be as close as a desk drawer with Ryan and McConnell and the residue of Romney, puddled up here and there, is still filled with their footprints.
