In one of the more unexpected visits to take place to the penthouse at the Trump Tpower on Wednesday, Leonardo DiCaprio and the head of his foundation met with President-elect Donald Trump to discuss how jobs centered on preserving the environment can boost the economy.
In a statement to The Associated Press, Terry Tamminen, the CEO of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, confirmed the meeting at Trump Tower in New York City. Tamminen said the pair gave a presentation to Trump, daughter Ivanka, and other members of Trump's team on how focusing on renewable, clean energy could create millions of jobs.
"Today, we presented the president-elect and his advisors with a framework which LDF developed in consultation with leading voices in the fields of economics and environmentalism that details how to unleash a major economic revival across the United States that is centered on investments in sustainable infrastructure," Tamminen said. "Our conversation focused on how to create millions of secure, American jobs in the construction and operation of commercial and residential clean, renewable energy generation."
The Oscar-winning actor has been a strong advocate of fighting climate change and preserving wildlife, and his recent documentary, Before the Flood, addresses the peril that the world faces because of climate change. He has also been repeatedly accused of hypocrisy by his critics for not practicing what he preaches, such as criss-crossing the globe in high carbon footprint private jets.
According to AP, DiCaprio previously met with Ivanka Trump and presented her with a copy of the film. The meeting with Trump's team lasted for about 90 minutes. The actor also gave the president-elect a copy of the documentary, and Trump promised to watch it, according to a person who was familiar with the meeting but not authorized to speak publicly.
Tamminen, who was secretary of California's Environmental Protection Agency under former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, said Trump was receptive and suggested they meet again next month.
"We look forward to continuing the conversation with the incoming administration as we work to stop the dangerous march of climate change, while putting millions of people to work at the same time," said Tamminen.
Despite the lip service, we doubt much if anything will come out of the meeting, which took place hours after word got out Wednesday that Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, who refuses to accept "climate-change", and whose policies have helped fossil fuel companies, is expected to be announced as Trump's pick to lead the Environmental Protection Agency.
It was unclear if DiCaprio flew in and out of his meeting with Trump to discuss how to make the environment great again, on his private jet.
I’m afraid Ivanka has too much influence over her father... and it’s not good influence.
Hollywood loves fantasies, like the idea that a country can make energy prohibitively expensive and yet continue to allow the average citizen to lead a comfortable, prosperous life.
Nobody seems to have mentioned the fact that all Trump has to do is humor people like this a little bit, and the money comes out of their pockets. It’s not going to hurt Trump at all if di Caprio, and Steyer, and whoever else is running around with undeserved money to burn “invests” in clean energy technology that will supposedly create millions of jobs. He’ll still have Pruitt shutting down the EPA’s overreach, but if these types want to privately invest their money, and Trump’s stamp of endorsement helps them do it, then great, we’ll have millions of jobs in fossil fuels and millions more in renewables, and in the end, it will just mean cheap energy fueling our economy and a big middle finger to the Wahhabi Islamofascists. Love it!
Very good question.
Apparently there is some beautiful property; I think it’s on the shores of Lake Erie, but I am not sure ; that has been rendered completely ugly by a huge windmill farm.
And yes, you would think that environmentalists would be concerned about the killing of birds and bats.
Songbirds are disappearing.
“Solyndra is dead.”

Spot on. Leo can put up his own moola.
He probably already has invested in some crackpot garage start-up. Now he wants da gubbermint to legitimize it in the eyes of the public, at least until the shares reach his designated sell price.
Then he cashes in, and it’s buh-bye. A man with a plan, that Leo.
Ah, I see. A punk who plays like he’s someone else and has never produced anything of lasting value is going to sell a flock of Solyndras to Trump. Right.
Trump delights in getting the left’s attention and hopes up and then the next day he appoints someone who is their worst nightmare.
he’s a little piece of s**t
I wonder how many Trump's had to deal with throughout his career.
That’s what alarms leftist so much. Trump won’t do anything that’s only end result is pouring money down a hole in the ground with nothing to show for it.
