A federal judge who ordered Michigan to begin its recount effectively ended it on Wednesday, tying his decision to a state court ruling that found Green Party candidate Jill Stein had no legal standing to request another look at ballots.
The ruling seals Republican Donald Trumps narrow victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton for Michigans 16 electoral votes.
U.S. District Judge Mark Goldsmith agreed with Republicans who argued that the three-day recount must end a day after the state appeals court dealt a blow to the effort. The court said Stein, who finished fourth in Michigan on Nov. 8, didnt have a chance of winning even after a recount and therefore isnt an aggrieved candidate.

Her fame may be coming to an end, bur her infamy will last for a very long time.
Especially in the era of so many absentee and other early votes. They mute the effect of momentum. Besides that, those absentee ballots are where there's the most opportunity of mischief.
One can't help but wonder how much DJT would've won by if absentee and early voting were stopped.
Federal judge halts recount, sealing Trump's Michigan win
The ruling seals Republican Donald Trumps narrow victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton for Michigans 16 electoral votes.
*sigh* No, propoganda ministers, neither the judge nor the ruling seals Trump's win. It was already sealed by the voters. He won Michigan fair and square. But of course, you must begin to foster the Leftist meme that the election was "stolen" by Trump and that the theft was "sealed" only because of a terrible court ruling. AP, you are as transparent as you are pathetic. To hell with you.
Yes, but there is a problem here that goes beyond who is on any given court.
Courts should not be hearing election cases at all. The more cases they grant hearings to, the more cases there will be.
Judges (naturally) see themselves as last-resort peacemakers and wise guardians, and when they operate within their scope, that's fine.
But cases over elections are POLITICAL, not JUDICIAL, in nature. All venues that have elections have established procedures to resolve disputes, and after they are over, someone wins and someone loses.
That the loser is, well, a loser, and in our sick times feels like a victim doesn't mean they get their day in court.
Michigan Certificate of Ascertainment lists 13 parties or write-ins who received votes for president in the Michigan general election. Last place went to Cherunda Fox, who got 10 votes.
...but her INSANITY will live on.
Another Trump Win! Love it!
As we get closer to the Dec 13 deadline fewer judges will want to step up and go down in history as the one who caused the people of Michigan to lose their electoral votes for no reason. This non-sense is over.
The happiest people should be those taxpayers in MI who don’t have to foot the bill for Jill/Hillary’s folly. They also can now be positive of the Democrat enslaving fraud done in Detroit every election.
OH NOES....Now I am suffering from ANTICIPATED WIN overload....
Please....please Mr President Elect can't you slow down .....maybe not.....
I think I can make it....I just used some Schadenfreude salve...
That's good now
Hillary’s outsmarted herself on this one. If she had asked for the recount, herself, she could have claimed to have been potentially aggrieved because she came close. Instead, she hid under Stein’s apron, but Stein could not claim to be aggrieved with such a low vote total of her own.
HOORAY Mark Goldsmith. Pull the plug on FrankenStein. Aggrieved asshat ALERT!
WOOHOOO Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, America.
HOORAY Donald J. Trump. Thank you, sir.
