Repealing President Barack Obama’s health care law without a replacement risks making nearly 30 million people uninsured, according to a study released Wednesday.

Separately, a professional group representing benefit advisers warned congressional leaders of the risk of “significant market disruption” that could cause millions of Americans to lose their health insurance.

Republicans dismiss such dire scenarios, saying that they are working on replacement legislation for a President Donald Trump to sign. […]

The new study from the nonpartisan Urban Institute looks at a scenario where “repeal” goes through, but “replace” stalls. It predicts heavy collateral damage for people buying individual health insurance policies independent of government markets like HealthCare.gov. Though nonpartisan, the Urban Institute generally supports the goal of extending coverage to all Americans. Previously it has criticized some of the subsidies provided under Obama’s law as insufficient. …

boo hoo.

It’ll instantly make people who do work for a living wealthier.

And their liberty would stop being violated.

How do ya like that, AP?

The only people who’ll “lose out” with repeal are those who aren’t really paying in in the first place. The people who are SUBSIDIZED. Any one else either isn’t in or is paying through the nose.

OMG, this “30 million uninsured” is the SAME NUMBER SINCE 1973, in the Robert Wood Johnson Report!!!

TOTAL FICTION!!!

And yes, the Urban Institute is paid by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to write this crap.

That is for the states, not the feds. That is what the Constitution was /is for.If a state insists on folly it is up to the citizens of the states to change things. There will be other examples in other states. It is not up to us to determine what Californians must put up with in California. That is their state. Let them adjust it how they will or get out. Just because of the bacillus effect of emigration from socialist states I would love to see an Amendment that does not allow someone to vote in a state for any state office until he has been a resident of that state uninterruptedly for 3 years.

There were quite a few problems with health insurance even before Obamacare. If we can solve them, we can be an example for the rest of the world which is stuck on single payer

There may have been problems with health insurance, but the poor have always been served in all emergency rooms. Now we have emergency care centers as well.

Insurance should be no problem with the poor. The tax payers still have to foot the bill, but now they won't be forced to pay thousands every year to the government.

I say repeal immediately. I do not believe we are in to deep to get this back to “normal”.

Exceptionally expensive catastrophic plans. Oh, and the best part (not) is that many specialists will not accept Obamacare plans.

Well it's really hard to get 30M deadbeats to work for a living, and afford the cost.

Forcing people with a job, real work and earned paycheck to support them is a lot easier ---- if you can force them to cooperate.

The alternative, creating a new, massive separate welfare program specifically to provide health care for the indolent "gibesmedat" subculture could not ever be sold to working taxpayers.

So the huge lie of not-really insurance was born, and was certain to fail. And the "You've got to let us pass it to find out what's in it" disaster was born.

Obama was allowed to "wing it" as "snags" popped up - no reason Trump can't do the same on the road to sanity....if needed, emergency funds/actions can minimize any serious consequences.
