Donald Trump Picks GOP Oil Industry Ally, Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, to Lead EPA

Donald Trump intends to select Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt to lead the Environmental Protection Agency, a senior transition official confirmed to NBC News Wednesday — the clearest sign yet the president-elect will pursue an agenda that could undue President Obama's climate change legacy.

An ally to the fossil fuel industry, Pruitt has aggressively fought against environmental regulations, becoming one of a number of attorneys general to craft a 28-state lawsuit against the Obama administration's rules to curb carbon emissions. The case is currently awaiting a decision from the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, which heard oral arguments in September.

Pruitt, who questions the impact of climate change, along with Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange, penned an op-ed in the Tulsa World earlier this year that called criticism they've received "un-American."

"Healthy debate is the lifeblood of American democracy, and global warming has inspired one of the major policy debates of our time," states the op-ed. "That debate is far from settled. Scientists continue to disagree about the degree and extent of global warming and its connection to the actions of mankind… Dissent is not a crime."

What you want to bet, when Algore and Trump talked, Trump asked Algore to name the one person he could not stand leading the EPA? Algore says Scott Pruitt. Trump thanks Algore for his time, with a smirk.

Sooooo .. I’m guessing Al Gore’s climate junk science did not impress PE Donald Trump.

First time I’ve seen him make such a dramatic move away from Ivanka’s “climate change” concerns.

He needs to immediately pull the EPA out of anything to do with the fraudulent “climate change” nonsense, then work with Congress to significantly reform NEPA. NEPA-driven Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) are a huge burden on construction projects specifically, and business generally. A typical EIS takes several years and costs millions of dollars, all usually for little to no tangible benefit to anyone. It’s the long delay it imposes on construction that is particularly damaging.

When he gets on the job, his “delete” button re politically inspired regulations will get quite a workout.

Good choice President Elect Donald J Trump!

My daughter used to work for a construction company in SoCal and her full-time position was making sure all the environmental regulations were followed and go between with the government. She had lots of stories about the insanity of the regulations.
