We bought a one-year old Rubicon Unlimited with about 15,000 miles about 6 years ago for $24,000. Have been offered that same price by numerous dealers to buy it back today. I can’t figure out why the prices stay so high.

I own a Rubi. The reason some car mags rate the jeep low is because of what it is used for... like off roading so the repairs are higher than normal. Also, the gas mileage is poor, comparatively speaking - again, it is the best off roading vehicle you can buy but the tire size, gearing and heavy axles give you low mileage. Also, a jeep has higher road noise because of the rag top or the 'freedom top' which has removable panels

Now, the bottom line is that a jeep is a fun vehicle. Take off the top or remove the panels and go for a ride on a nice sunny day... then find some off road place to drive it. Do that and you will own nothing else.

The aforementioned reasons are why jeeps have one of the highest resale values. According to Kelly Blue Book a jeep maintains 70% of its value after 3 years.
