Microwave Fracking: Environmentally Friendly And Extremely Efficient
Manufacturing Talk Radio ^ | October 14,2016

Fracking has faced serious opposition from environmental groups throughout the United States and the communities that surround these industrial operations. The main issue surrounding fracking is the disposal of wastewater that some fear could contaminate groundwater in these communities where fracking operations are located.

It may sound like something out of a science fiction movie but hydraulic fracking could instead become microwave fracking. This new process is more efficient, safer and more environmentally friendly than traditional hydraulic fracking. The biggest concern with fracking is the disposal of wastewater. However with this new process water would be able to be eliminated from the process entirely. [It would cause] “a whole shift in the paradigm, – We don’t need water for our process and we don’t have wastewater to dispose of afterward,” said Peter Kearl, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of the microwave fracking company Qmast, bit.ly/2dMVK5q

A single one of these microwave oil operations could produce around 800,000 barrels of oil. This could be what the oil company has been searching for, a competitive yet environmentally friendly way of producing shale oil. What is even more impressive is how soon these operations may be deployed and deployed. By 2017 the United States may be utilizing this incredible technology to help power the world. We can’t wait to see one of these microwave fracking operations in action. We’ll have more developments surrounding microwave fracking as they become available so check back soon.

Microwaves? Underground? This could get ugly.

Watched the video and I call BS! The idea of heating the surroundings is old news but they will still have to frac to get and hold the zone open.

Maybe but since the Oklahoma Corporation Commission has ordered wastewater injections in the Arbuckle reduced or of stopped near faults the frequency and intensity of earthquakes in Oklahoma have been greatly reduced.

Microwaves? What is the energy required? How is it focused?

Correct question. With laterals extending thousands of feet and necessitating fractures of hundreds of feet this is loony toons.

The energy required for fracturing is engines of many thousands of pounds of horsepower. In fact you will have multiple engines to do the fracturing process. This will not happen with microwaves.

During a fracture process you will have multiple frac units pumping fluid at several thousands of pounds pressure. This is a dangerous operation. If a line breaks it can cut you in half.

Been there done that and stayed the hell away from the pumping units and their high pressure lines! They can kill you!

Another misunderstanding by the media. This is not a replacement for fracking at all. The article is about producing shale oil as found in the Green River Formation. Shale oil is not oil at all but is a substance called kerogen that requires heat to be converted to crude oil. The problem is how much energy is required to do the process whether it is done by microwaves or anything else.

Of course you and I coming from the oil industry know the difference between shale oil and oil shale from which existing crude oil is produced from tight shale formations by horizontal drilling and fracking.
