We are supposed to provide his hormones and possibly the bodily mutilation surgery needed to accommodate his transgender feelings.

The ACLU doesn’t embrace the concept of law enforcement; it embraces the the concept of sentiment.
Even Soetoro knew that he had to be careful about publicly shielding Manning, because he knew that the public backlash would be too strong.
It will be interesting to discover Manning’s “institutionalization” once those documents are declassified (it probably got to live a life of leisure on the taxpayer’s dime).

Chelsea Manning wasn’t sentenced to anything at all. There was a Bradley Manning who was sentenced for betraying his oath and his country, but I haven’t heard from him in a while. Possibly the media just lost track of him...
