Why I Will Not Cast My Electoral Vote for Donald Trump
New York Slimes ^ | CHRISTOPHER SUPRUN

Dallas — I am a Republican presidential elector, one of the 538 people asked to choose officially the president of the United States. Since the election people have asked me to change my vote based on policy disagreements with Donald J. Trump. In some cases, they cite the popular vote difference. I do not think president-elects should be disqualified for policy disagreements. I do not think they should be disqualified because they won the Electoral College instead of the popular vote. However, now I am asked to cast a vote on Dec. 19 for someone who shows daily he is not qualified for the office.

Gee, I wonder if, for some strange reason, he was “unable” to vote, who would vote in his place?

This elector still has the opportunity to serve his role with integrity and to be a man of honor.

I imagine there will be a severe backlash that will help him realize that. It seems most Texans take honor seriously and his betrayal would besmirch the state. Something many Texans would look down upon.

This happened in 2000 too. In the midst of the Florida court battles the young Speaker of the Florida House said it ultimately didn’t matter what the courts said. The legislature was going to vote to vote in the Bush electors regardless.

It is flat amazing how few FReepers seem to remember this.

So the GOP can remove him from the roster / rolls and he’s no longer affiliated

That is of course absurd, and I hope you are joking. What you suggest is not possible. Every person has a an absolute right to register whatever party, or no party, they desire, and for any reason. For example, if Hitler were to go in and register as Democrat, there literally is nothing that the Democratic Party could do about it.

Faithless electors who do not recuse themselves should face treason charges.

I prefer individual freedom. The guy's a dork, but he isn't treasonous.

How do we know that this guy, as well as the other 1 who ended up resigning, aren’t just giving bogus reasons but are doing this because they finally succumbed to all the threats (and/or maybe were bribed/blackmailed)?

His explanation doesn’t ring true. Why does it matter that he waited two days (if that was really the elapsed time) as long as he gave his condolences?

And the elector is mistaken. Trump did not say Russia should hack Hillary’s emails. He said for them to release the emails they had.

When did Trump urge violence against protesters? It was the Democrat Party that was inciting violence at Trump rallies. This guy is a plant.

That poses no problem. They can re-register him after the Elector meeting, during which he is not eligible to be an Elector.

Trump asked for the hacked e-mails to be returned. This guy can’t even get his news right.

Look at all of the Videos of Democrats, celebrities, and Media Talking Heads predicting what was going to happen. We have all seen them, and everybody finds them amusing. I find them to be terrifying.

What I find chilling is that 95% of those Democrats don’t say, “Trump can’t win” or “Trump will lose the election”

They say, over and over again the more ponderous “Trump will never be President of the United States”.

Well, you know what? They’re not wrong yet. Trump is not yet President of the United States. We are all very confident that it is inevitable, but you just saw a lot of people say, without equivocation, that this will not happen. This makes me very uneasy.

Do they know of some remedy that will keep the results of the election from coming to pass?

And if that is the case, it looks like a helluva a lot of people have known about it for some time.

I am laying down a marker. If anything happens between now and Inaugeration Day that keeps Donald Trump from office, I want to hear from all those people who did not say “Trump will lose the election”, and instead said “Trump will never be President”.

What did they know and when did they know it?

A lot of Unionized Fire Fighters are Union first and Fire Fighters second.

Remember “Fire Fighters for Kerry”? They were on stage at every Kerry rally in 2004.

This is the plan:

1) Use the recounts to delay the vote being certified by the Dec 19 deadline, to reduce Trump’s margin.

2) Have “faithless” #NeverTrump electors vote for some “moderate”, like Kasich, so that nobody gets 270, and the election gets thrown to the House.

3) The House gets to pick from the top THREE electoral vote getters. The Dems join with the RINOs to vote for Kasich.

4) Kasich becomes president.

5) The Establishment tries to ride out the storm.
