I worry about that, too. The “safe spaces” movement on college campuses is frighteningly anti-1st Amendment. The Global Warming “consensus” blathering is anti-science, which should be a realm of PROOF and skepticism but is instead herd mentality abdication of critical thinking.

These attitudes are the result of teachers acting in loco parentis when they are really just loco. It used to be commonly said that “those who CAN do, those who CAN’T teach” and it was more than just a way to insult teachers — it is just a simple fact that teachers who have never done anything else do not really know what kids need to learn to succeed in any other area. All they know is what it takes to be a teacher convinced they are an underpaid underappreciated victim in a liberal echo chamber and that is what they teach the kids.

I wish the focus would shift from teaching to learning. Kids should be able to learn from any source and simply advance to the next grade level and graduation and degree by passing standardized tests like the SAT. Proof that they have LEARNED and not simply ATTENDED school.

Eliminate the filtering and emphasis that teachers are placing on subjects by having databases of millions of questions on each subject that a test can be assembled from at random. After the random 200 or more questions are put together for a test, put the questions in random order for each student to prevent cheating from one student to another. Build the databases of questions by submissions from teachers, but then peer reviewed at random by other teachers and you should be able to get unbiased test questions. Have the kids take 25 question pop quizzes every day to identify what they know and what they are missing, and the quizzing doesn’t end until they get 90% of them right.

None of this Common Core focus on methods, just SAT type tests for each course. K12 Math would consist of 52 tests, one for each quarter final at each grade level. Same for Reading, same for Grammar, same for Science, same for History, Geography, Programming, Agriculture, etc. You get a diploma when you have scored 90% on all the tests for all courses, whether you are 10 years old or 25 years old, whether home schooled or private schooled or public schooled or no school but just self-study. Advance to college level courses whenever you have passed the K12 test for that subject.

Wow. You penned a master piece, here.

I believe it is the priority of and the high esteem for “social engineering”, over the task of learning, that has been thought the ticket to building a socialist consensus for globalist views.

The stinking Common Core was the final test, to determine if the shaping process of the American student had been fulfilled.

Only one thing. The test was for us, the parents! How much would we tolerate of this academic re-education and pathetic experimentation on our kids.

We were all stuck out there in the work force and had no time or ability to remove our kids from the heavy handed operatives running the curriculum and developing little mules for cementing a globalist world view and guaranteeing a redistribution of talent and treasure. (Mostly treasure.)

I will stop there. It gets pretty damn dark after this point anyway. Motivations are another chapter.

The baby boomers may have left a decent legacy after all. We neglected classical education and attending school board meetings and set ourselves adrift from what was happening, but when we woke up, we recognized the road to totalitarianism is through our kids and we started fighting back in the 80’s, incrementally.

By the grace of God, so did a few of our kids, who became parents themselves and soon tired of their own kids collapsing in tears over gobbledygook homework and noticing also that textbooks that could no longer be brought home for parents to peruse.
